recoloring animated gifs

1. obtain your sprite gif i suggest using this site; download them off of here 2. using gimp, open the gif. the image should already be in indexed mode; to make sure, check here: otherwise, convert it from RGB to indexed color. 3. open 'colormap' from windows > dockable dialogues. 4. in order to edit the colors, simply double click on each one. it'll open up the color selector and you can choose the color to replace it with. (artistic side note: i'd suggest modifying hue rather than saturation and brightness. that just makes it difficult, but it's necessary sometimes.) 5. once you're done recoloring, you'll need to export it as an animated gif. click 'export as', and modify the filename as you wish. next, a dialogue will pop up: make sure that everything underlined in red is the same as what i have selected. from there, click export, and: there it is!

Ok, so, the thing I was talking about works like this. Say I have an ice delta Porygon, and want to know what an ice delta melan Porygon would look like. I take the base image from the regular ice delta, and layer the melan image on top. This gets you an exact preview, as compared to Nightmon's which is more of an approximation. But the drawback is you have to have the regular delta image of the type you want, and the special version has to be discovered in your dex or on the wiki.
