Pokemon Farming: Snover!
December 17, 2008 | 26 Comments
![]()
Snover is an odd looking little pokemon that somewhat resembles a pine tree. It’s typing Grass/Ice is unique only to it and it’s evolution Abomasnow. What’s even more unique is it’s ability Snow Warning, which instantly summons a permanent hail storm. This ability alone makes Snover a must have for Hail teams. At level 40 Snover evolves into the fairly sturdy Abomasnow. Abomasnow can serve multiple purposes for a hail team aside from initiating the hail storm. It’s capable of performing the role of a solid physical, special or mixed attacker. The Snover I’ve bred for you are Sassy(Sp def +, Speed -) and have either a 30 or 31 in special defense. Since the nature i’ve chosen are is neutral to both attack these guys can serve a mixed attackers. Their move set is:
Leech Seed: The user plants seeds on the opponent and that saps the foe’s Hp each turn. An awesome attack for wearing down opponents in conjunction with the Hail chipping away at them each turn. This move is best used with Spikes and Stealth Rock to rack up residual damage.
Protect: A move that evades all attacks. You can use this attack to scout move sets or after the you seeded them to get some Leech seed damage and get a little more leftovers recovery for your frozen plant.
Seed Bomb: I’m sure the recoil of Wood Hammer puts a few of you off. Seed Bomb give you another viable grass STAB option that still does a solid amount of damage.
Blizzard: One of the big attractions to Abomasnow is the 100% accurate STABed Blizzard, thank to Snow Warning. It’s sure to leave your foe shaking.

(sno)Runt of the Litter
October 4, 2008 | 21 Comments

Being a runt doesn’t always mean your weak.
These snorunts will evolve at level 42 into the mighty ice pokemon known as Glalie. With all of his stats even, there’s no true statistical weakness. Take into account a Bold (+def, -att) nature, their defense will be pumped up to help them take hits and do some damage. All these guys will have the ability Ice Body which allows them to recover HP in hailstorms, making it a great addition to a hailstorm team.
The move set is below:
Substitute – protect yourself a bit with a little toy
Protect – protects your sub and allows you to recover some life from the hailstorm you switch into.
Spikes – with Flying and Dragon types afraid of you, why not make an obstacle that hurts all the others?
Blizzard- nothing like a STABed 120 power move that has 100% accuracy in the hail.
Rules:
- Please leave your name and friend code in a post below.
- One one request per person. No duplicates will be given out.
- Be in the Wi-Fi zone at 8pm(CST) on Sunday Oct 5th
- Make yourself available to Trade I will come to you when I’m ready.

Pokemon Farming: Swinub!
August 10, 2008 | 42 Comments
August 12, 2008
Continuing our “Winter in August” this week, I bring you Swinub. Swinub’s an odd little piglet of the ice and ground typing. In fact, it and it’s evolutions are the only pokemon who are immune to Sand Storm’s and Hail, making them great choices if you’re planing on building either weather team. Swinub evolves into Piloswine at level 33, and if you teach it Ancient Power it will evolve into the Mamoswine. Mamoswine is not only a behemoth in size, it’s attack tops off at a beastly 394, it ties with Garchomp and Breloom in terms of attack strength. Of course since it has access to Ice Shard, it can destroy both aforementioned pokemon before they can scratch it. So, the Swinub I’m adopting out today are adamant(attack+, sp. attack-), with max attack IVs and the following move set:
Ice Shard: A STABed priority attack, if D-dance or Scarfed dragons are giving you problem, this attack will solve your problems.
Earthquake: A powerful secondary STAB attack, if you’re opponent thinks about sending in a Bulky Water type, this will rip a hole in them. If you want to have some more fun, slap a choice band on this guy.
Curse: This move raises your attack and def, hopefully giving Mamoswine more play time and powering it’s attacks up further.
Body Slam: A decently powered physical attack, with a 30% chance of paralyzing your foe, making them as slow as you after the curse.
These Swinub have two abilities:
Oblivious: Prevents the pokemon from be affected by the attract condition.
Snow Cloak: Raises it’s evasiveness by one level in a snow storm.

Pokemon Farming: Delibird
August 10, 2008 | 74 Comments

Continuing our Winter in August theme, I bring you shiny Delibird!
Now, to get this out of the way, these Delibird are in no way hacked or cloned, each is one of a kind! Delibird are one of several daily swarms you can get in D/P, and they’re all obtained though chaining for shinies. I love to chain, and I’ve been looking for a good reason to do it, so here we are!
Tonight, I have 28 Purple Delibird to hand out! I gave them a few TMs so that they have a little extra something than the only move it has in the wild-Present (amulet coin+vs seeker=$$), so here are its moves:
- Present – Att?? Accuracy 90% A gift in the form of a bomb, can restore your opponents HP.
- Ice Beam -Att 95 Accuracy 100% STAB
- Blizzard -Att 120 Accuracy 75% STAB
They either have the ability Vital Spirit, which makes him never under the ’sleep’ condition, and Hustle, which gives physical attacks 1.5 times the power, but reduces the accuracy to 80%.
All shiny Delibird will also have some sort of item as a present!
So you want a Purple Penguin? Heres the rules:
- Sign up with your name and friend code down below in the comments-first come, first serve!
- First time commenting here? All first time comments are moderated and will not show on the site immediately! We will get them through as soon as we can.
- Please only ask for one. After 28 requests, I have no more to give!
- You can choose a gender and/or an ability, but I can’t guarantee that you will get it-you cannot request nature.
- You may ask for a nickname, but be prepared to wait extra time!
- I don’t need anything in return, but if you have a Gulpin I wouldn’t turn it down :D
- You have two hours to pick it up from now (6pm New York Eastern Time), I wont reserve it for you after that.
- If there are leftovers, I will be offering them in our forums, do not ask for leftovers in the forums unless I offer them.
Instructions:
Enter my name and friend code

Pokémon Farming: Snover!
August 7, 2008 | 44 Comments
August 8, 2008
As we kick off our special “Winter in August” event here at Pokefarm, what better way to start than with the Pokémon that brings winter with him wherever he goes?
Snover is “can do” little Pokémon with the odd typing of Grass and Ice. While their speed is nothing to write home about, their offensive options are impressive despite a limited move selection. Their Snow Warning power creates a massive hail storm on the field with their first appearance that will never wind down of it’s own accord. With a fierce selection of attacks on both the physical and special end of the spectrum Snover and his Evolution Abomasnow can put a big dent in just about anyone if they get a chance to act.
These Snover are mixed sweepers with a variety of powerful physical and special attacks. While these mixed sweepers come in a random assortment of natures, all have a 31 IV in speed. As a mixed attacker appreciates just about any of their stats, all will be holding a Starf Berry (which boosts a random stat when Snover drops to 1/4 HP).
Their move sets are as follows:
Blizzard: With a mighty 120 power, and hitting both opponents in a double battle but not affecting your side, Blizzard takes it’s place among the most powerful attacks in the game. It’s normally rather lackluster 70 accuracy is wiped away in Snover’s Hail, not only making Blizzard automatically hit but also giving Snover a roughly 25% chance of hitting through Protect or Detect! You really don’t want to get attacked with a Auto-hitting, STABed Blizzard!
Wood Hammer: A strong special attack like Blizzard may give people the idea to bring a Pokémon with a good special defense to resist it. If they try it, you can hit them with Wood Hammer. With 120 power and 100 accuracy Wood Hammer’s powerful physical damage really packs a wallop. Just be careful as Snover takes backlash when he connects.
Ice Shard: One of Snover’s main weaknesses is his lackluster speed. With Ice Shard you will have attack priority to get those hits before your opponent has a chance to try anything funny.
Protect: Snover’s other main problem are all the type weaknesses he picks up from his Grass/Ice typing. With Protect you can scout out your opponent in relative safety for a round while the hail picks away at them.

Pokemon Farming: Lapras
November 13, 2007 | 50 Comments
Today in Pokemon Farming: Lapras, the Transport Pokemon!
Now, I have done Lapras before, months ago. But this was before I learned to breed move sets! And it is still my favorite, so I thought I’d give it a proper event to share with you all!
Lapras has always been a favorite of mine, it has very impressive HP stats, and good attack and defense stats to boot! Its speed stat is something it lacks in however, but with the good stats in other areas, it can hold its own in a fight.
Tonights Lapras is a tribute to cold upcoming Winter (In Ohio where I live, at least!) and has some nice ice moves to prove it
- Icebeam-STAB
- Blizzard-STAB
- Thunderbolt-nice extra to keep up variety
- Surf-STAB
Now, I chose to teach it Surf, not because im too lazy to teach it something rare, but because HM surf is a powerful accurate move, besides being utilitarian. I also want to pay tribute to its status as the Pokemon Sea Ferry!
Tonights Lapras will all be named after wintry things!
So do you want one of these Icy Pokemon Ferries? Here’s what you do:
- Comment with your Name and Friend Code
- Even if we have traded before, I need your information again!
- Get a Pokemon to trade (preferably non-Sinnoh, though I will take anything, items are always appreciated!)
- Be in the Wi-Fi zone at 7pm EDT on November 14(Wednesday)
- Make yourself available to Trade (Invite–>Trade) I will come to you when I’m ready.
- If you are new to our site, your first comment will be moderated. Don’t worry if your post doesn’t show, we will get to it in time, and you will not miss out!

Special Pokemon Farmer’s Market: Second Harvest
August 31, 2007 | 87 Comments

Greetings, Everyone!
Welcome to an extra special edition of the Friday Farmer’s Market: Second Harvest. My handle here is BryGuy. Tonight’s Farmer’s Market will be very different, so please be aware of the new conditions. Over the past number of weeks I have been offering pokemon with special movesets. Many people have been asking me for more of these pokes for various reasons. Tonight, I am going to clear out my boxes of any leftover pokemon from these events. The pokemon offered tonight are as follows:
- Houndour (about 4 individuals)
- Elekid (about 6 individuals)
- Cyndaquil (about 10 individuals)
- Swinub (about 9 individuals)
These are the same little guys I offered at previous Farmer’s Market Events. They all have amazing movesets, they are all 100% game-legal, and they were all bred by me using normal methods and loving care! Check my previous Farmer’s Market posts to see all the details about these awesome pokemon. Please be careful to follow the special procedures indicated below.
Here are the rules and procedures for tonight’s Second Harvest Farmer’s Market:
- Enter my trainer name and friend code into your pal pad. My trainer name is BryGuy and my friend code is 3737 6015 6762.
- Have a Pokemon ready in your party to trade to me. Today I will accept anything, but I like to be surprised! Feel free to trade me something you think is cool or unique. It is especially nice if the Pokemon is holding something (berries, items, etc.)!
- Post a comment to this article saying which ONE of these pokemon you would like. I will issue them on a first-post, first present, basis. If you are not ready in the WiFi Club when I come to trade with you, I will move to the next person on my list. You may need to accept the pokemon offered to you. There will probably not be much choice in terms of male or female, etc.
- In your post requesting a pokemon, MAKE SURE YOU CLEARLY AND ACCURATELY LIST YOUR TRAINER NAME FROM YOUR GAME AND YOUR FRIEND CODE. EVEN IF WE HAVE TRADED BEFORE, PLEASE LIST THIS INFORMATION. I had to clear my Pal Pad a few times so most of my previously entered “Pals” have been removed. I will enter as many of friend codes before the Farmer’s Market as I can.
- In your game, enter the WiFi Club at 7:30 pm eastern time (6:30 pm central time) on Friday, August 31, 2007. Please note this new time for tonight!
- When you enter the Wi-Fi zone select the trade option (INVITE -> TRADE) and wait for me to select you.
- I will not be on early tonight.
- Please be patient. I may have to leave the WiFi Club sometimes to get more pokemon. Please don’t panic, I’ll return promptly!
- The Farmer’s Market will run from 7:30 to 8:30 pm EDT.
- I am only prepared to trade the pokemon listed above. Please do not ask for other Pokemon. I will not be trading anything other than what I have listed tonight. Thanks.
I am looking forward to trading. See you at the Farmer’s Market!

Pokemon Farmer’s Market: Swinub
August 24, 2007 | 153 Comments

Greetings, Everyone!
Welcome to the Friday Farmer’s Market featuring ice/ground-type Pokemon, Swinub. My handle here is BryGuy. I have been gone on vacation for a couple weeks but I am back! I am determined to continue bringing you special, value-added Pokemon! Today I offer you little, baby Swinubs. These little buggers made their first appearance in the Gold/Silver/Crystal Pokemon games. In the present generation of Pokemon games, Swinub are only available in random, daily “swarms” of pokemon that appear after you have become the Pokemon League Champion. So in Diamond and Pearl, Swinubs are difficult to get. The Swinubs I offer you today are not your ordinary, “garden-variety” Swinubs. These little, furry piggies have a specially developed moveset that is designed to make them toughies from the start and to give the Swinubs moves they would not learn on their own. My baby Swinubs will have the following cool moveset:
- ANCIENT POWER

- EARTHQUAKE
- ICE BEAM
- BLIZZARD
Pretty nice moves for a little, level 1 furry pig-thing! As Swinub grows and evolves you may decide to replace some of these moves with something else, but I thought these Swinubs should start with some of the best moves they can learn! Swinubs won’t normally learn Ice Beam without the use of a TM. I bred a female Swinub with a male Dewgong that knew Ice Beam and I was able to pass the move on down to a male offspring. That offspring would later become the father for the Swinubs I am offering today. Swinubs also can’t learn Ancient Power by themselves. I took the father to the Move Tutor after he evolved into a Piloswine and the Move Tutor taught the Piloswine Ancient Power. This father then passed both Ice Beam and Ancient Power on down to his offspring.
Now here is a bit of important information you should know if you get one of these special Swinubs: After Swinub evolves into Piloswine at level 33 it will then evolve into Mamoswine. Mamoswine is new in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. It appears to be a cross between a giant mammoth and a pig!? Mamoswine makes up for some of the weaknesses of the Swinub/Piloswine stages. It has much stronger attack stats. But here’s an important piece of information: Piloswine will evolve into Mamoswine when it levels-up after learning Ancient Power. Since these guys already know Ancient Power they will evolve after the first level-up after becoming Piloswine. I mention this in case you do not want it to evolve right away (maybe you want it to learn a few moves at a lower level first). Be ready to press the “B” button if you want to stop the evolution and evolve him later.
Some other ideas to help with your new Swinubs: If you are fighting a long battle, be sure to use Ancient Power early in the fight. It is a “rock-type” attack with basic attack power of 60, but its secondary effect is that it can raise all of your Swinub/Piloswine/Mamoswine’s stats. This turns him into a really dangerous opponent! Also consider taking your Piloswine to the Move Tutor and having him teach Ice Fang to the Piloswine. Ice Fang is a physical attack and it aligns nicely with Mamoswines high attack stat as well as its Ice type. There was no way for me to breed this move into Swinub and none of these guys will learn it without a session with the Move Tutor.
These Swinub are 100% game-legal. They were not hacked in any way. The moveset was obtained through normal breeding and careful study!
One last note: Today’s Swinubs are all named with Inuit (Alaskan/Eskimo) names in honor of their Ice/Ground type. Enjoy!
Here are the rules and procedures for tonight’s Farmer’s Market:
- Enter my trainer name and friend code into your pal pad. My trainer name is BryGuy and my friend code is 3737 6015 6762.
- Have a Pokemon ready in your party to trade to me. Today I will accept anything, but I like to be surprised! Feel free to trade me something you think is cool or unique. It is especially nice if the Pokemon is holding something (berries, items, etc.)!
- Post a comment to this article saying that you would like a Swinub. MAKE SURE YOU CLEARLY AND ACCURATELY LIST YOUR TRAINER NAME FROM YOUR GAME AND YOUR FRIEND CODE. EVEN IF WE HAVE TRADED BEFORE, PLEASE LIST THIS INFORMATION. I had to clear my Pal Pad a few times so most of my previously entered “Pals” have been removed. I will enter as many of friend codes before the Farmer’s Market as I can.
- In your game, enter the WiFi Club at 7:00 pm eastern time (6:00 pm central time) on Friday, August 24, 2007.
- When you enter the Wi-Fi zone select the trade option (INVITE -> TRADE) and wait for me to select you.
- If you can, be early. I may be online early.
- Please be patient. I should have plenty of Swinubs. I may have to leave the WiFi Club sometimes to get more Swinubs. Please don’t panic, I’ll return promptly!
- The Farmer’s Market will run from 7:00 to 8:00 pm EDT.
- I am only prepared to trade specially prepared Swinub. Please do not ask for other Pokemon. I will not be trading anything other than Swinub tonight. Thanks.
I am looking forward to trading. See you at the Farmer’s Market!

Pokemon Farming: Lapras
July 17, 2007 | 46 Comments
Today in Farmer’s Favorite Week: Lapras!
Continuing with our theme of picking our personal favorites, I picked (easily for me!) Lapras. Me and Lapras go way back, I’ve always loved it for its high HP since back in my Red/Blue days, despite it weaknesses to electric moves. On a side note, if anyone has played Pokemon Snap for N64, I would play through the first level only taking pictures of Lapras as a joke to my friends (it was funny at least at the time). If you don’t know about Snap, you’re missing out, it was so weirdly fun.
Anyway, Lapras has always been a staple in my ‘main’ party, and I make it a point to catch one (Or receive one) as soon I can. In D/P, you can get the little wonder after you beat the E4, in a special room on Victory road, and you have to do a series of double battles with a girl to go surfing to catch him. Complicated? You bet. I thought it was worth it! I would love to do nothing more than save you all the trouble though, so today is your day for a fresh Lapras baby!
