Pokemon Farming: Aerodactyl
May 8, 2008 | 48 Comments
This time in Pokemon Farming: Aerodactyl, the Fossil Pokemon!
These ferocious babies were carefully extracted from old DNA inside Old Amber, found mostly from digging underground. And I’ve bred these Aerodactyl to whoop some multi-type butt!
These Aerodactyl know many moves to cover all types of adversaries!
- Ice Fang
- Thunder Fang
- Fire Fang
- Earthquake
All of tonights Aerodactyl are Adamant (+Att,-Sp.Att) and have the ability Pressure, which allows moves that hit you use 2PP instead of 1. Also all of tonights Aerodactyl will be named after characters from Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Want one of these multi-tasking Aerodactyls for yourself? Heres what to do!

My Friend Code has changed! I got a shiny new DS lite! :D
**Females in Aerodactyls have a 12.5% chance of showing up when hatching, and even less when I pick the Adamant Pressure ones only! In fact, I only have 3 right now! If you ask for a male, you’ll get it for sure, but females are a little more tough to get. I can’t guarantee that all people requesting females will get them, but I will try!**
Pokemon Farming: Tropius
January 25, 2008 | 62 Comments

How does that Pokemon fly?
When Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire came out some of us were surprised that another Grass/Flying Pokemon had been added to the game. (Hoppip was the first.) So here was have Tropius, the fruit Pokemon!
Tropius
This Pokemon will have one of two Abilities:
- Chlorophyll: When sunny, the Pokémon’s Speed doubles. However, Speed will not double on the turn weather becomes Clear Skies.
- Solar Power: Pokémon’s Special Attack raises to 1.5 times but HP decreases every turn.
- Move Set
- Grass Knot - Grass - Special: The heavier the foe the more damage this move does.
- Air Slash - Flying - Special: Power 75 and Accuracy 9%: 30% chance of causing Flinch.
- Body Slam - Normal - Physical: Power 85 and Accuracy 100 : 30% chance of causing Paralyze.
- Earthquake - Ground - Physical: Power 100 and Accuracy 100 : Hits everyone on the field.
Tropius’s main problem is Ice Pokemon. Tropius has a 4X weakness to Ice types. None of the move on this Tropius are of much use against an Ice type Pokemon so please keep that in mind when using Tropius.
Tropius also has 2X weakness against Fire, Poison, Flying and Rock Pokemon. Lucky for you Earthquake is very effective against Fire and Poison Pokemon, Grass Knot will take out most Rock Pokemon (who are often heavy). The only typing that you do not have an effective attack against is Flying.
When I started this project I wanted to see just what I could do with Tropius. Two of the moves on him are from TMs but I did not want to use up a TM is possible. With that in mind I bred my first female Tropius with my Torterra to pass on Earthquake. Sadly no Pokemon learn Grass Knot by leveling up so I had to burn a TM for that one.
Now that I had the TM moves that I wanted I looked over Tropius’s level up moves and decided on Air Slash and Body Slam. Tropius learns Body Slam at level 37 and Air slash at level 47. Because both parents must have matching level up moves in order to pass them on to their offspring I had to level up two Pokemon to level 47. Yes, it took some time to do so. It is also important to note that the next move learned (Solar Beam) pops up at level 51. Why is this important? Because, if you leave them in the day care popping out eggs for too long that move will be learned and will replace one of the other moves that they know!
After breeding up a large number of eggs I had to work to hatch all of those eggs. At close to 4100 steps each (even with an egg-hatching Pokemon in the party) it was quite some time before all of these kids were ready.
Rules
1. I will take any Pokemon you want to give me.
2. The Pokemon you trade to me should be holding something.
3. I prefer berries over all other items.
4. The only exception to berries are the two items that Magby/Elekid hold when caught in the wild.
5. When you leave your information in the comments below your trainer name must be correct. When I do the trading I refer to the comments on the site to see who gets what.
6. When you enter the Wi-Fi zone select the trade option and wait for me to select you.

Pokemon Farming: Taillow
January 22, 2008 | 60 Comments
This time at the Farmers Market: Taillow, the tiny swallow Pokemon!
Taillow, and it’s evolution, Swellow, are speedy little birds and you really can do some interesting things with him!
First, his ability: Guts, attack is raised when statused (burn, paralyze, sleep, poison or freeze) 1.5 times. So maybe attach a toxic orb or status inducing item and you have the boost.
Next, a move set to play into this ability:
- Roost-restores half of the users HP
- Aerial Ace-STAB, Attack 60, speedy and never misses
- Brave Bird-STAB, Attack 120, 100% accuracy, does cause recoil
- Facade-Attack 70 Accuracy 100%, further boosts attack when poisoned, burned, or paralyzed
It’s already fast, but status it, use Facade, and its attack can be a handful to a challenger!
And finally, all of these Taillows I have bred will be Jolly natured (+Speed, -Sp. Attack). Also, they will all be named after North American birds. So there are lots of interesting ways to have fun with these birds!
So do want one of these speedy fearless little birds? Heres what to do:
- Comment with your Name and Friend Code
- Even if we have traded before, I need your information again!
- Get a Pokemon to trade (preferably non-Sinnoh, though I will take anything, items are always appreciated. I am looking for TM 47 Thief if anyone can spare it, not required at all, though!)
- Be in the Wi-Fi zone between 7pm ET (New York Time) on January 24 (Thursday)
- Make yourself available to Trade (Invite–>Trade) I will come to you when I’m ready.
- If you are new to our site, your first comment will be moderated. Don’t worry if your post doesn’t show, we will get to it in time, and you will not miss out!

Pokemon Farming: Natu
September 20, 2007 | 39 Comments
Today in Pokemon Farming: Natu!
This tiny bird Pokemon is psychic/flying type from the Gold and Silver generation. A post in our forums about bird Pokemon got me thinking about this Natu and next thing you know I’m breeding it! Xatu, his evolution, has the ability to learn HM Fly, has always been a favorite ‘utility’ of mine. You could use him to zip around the map, and then to do some serious psychic damage in a battle!
Unfortunately, Natu can’t learn Fly until he evolves in Xatu at Lv. 25. Nevertheless, I whipped up some Natu’s with some pretty nice moves to make him ready for the fight!
He comes equipped with:
Psychic (the essential psychic power move, STAB)
Shadow Ball (dark type)
Roost (restores HP, very handy)
Drill Peck (STAB)
They will have either the Synchronize ability (If it becomes poisoned, burned, or paralyzed, so will its opponent) or Early Bird ability (It will wake up from sleep in a half the time).
I recommend leveling up the little birdie and evolving him, to teach him Fly, and give him a try in your team! But you can do whatever you like with him, because he will be yours. Just follow these simple rules:
- Comment with your Name and Friend Code
- Even if we have traded before, I need your information again!
- Get a Pokemon to trade (preferably non-Sinnoh, though I will take anything, items are always appreciated. I am looking for a water stone, if anyone has one, as always it is not required!)
- Be in the Wi-Fi zone at 7pm EDT on September 20 (Thursday)
- Make yourself available to Trade (Invite–>Trade) I will come to you when I’m ready.
- Only Natu today, I’m not offering anything else, sorry!

Pokemon Farming: Skarmory
August 3, 2007 | 68 Comments
And the Johto week ends with a bang! Well, more like a swoosh.
Skarmory has the distinct advantage of being quite a nice competitive tool. His defense stat is quite impressive, though he’s a bit of an offensive letdown. Luckily there are a couple moves that help to overcome this hindrance.
Spikes is a great move that enables you to do some damage that wouldn’t otherwise be done, counterable only by a rapid spinner, spikes deals damage to opponents that switch out. This, coupled with a very nice healing move make Skarmory the tough half of the ‘Skarmbliss’ pair.
Here are the moves your Skarmory will come with.
- Spikes (explained above)
- Aerial Ace (STAB, Never Miss)
- Roost (HEAL HEAL HEAL)
- Brave Bird (STAB - 120 Power)
This should provide a great tank for several pesky pokes! I hope you have enjoyed Johto Week as much as we’ve enjoyed working on it!
Here are the instructions for tonight:
- Leave a comment with your trainer name and friend code. I’ve had to clear out my pal pad a bit, so I will need your codes!
- Be in the Wifi room by 8:00 EDT (7:00 CDT) on Friday, Aug. 3, and be in Trade Mode (Invite -> Trade). I will come to you when I’m ready.
- Have something to trade. I’ll take anything, but I’m still trying to fill my ‘dex, so I prefer any non-Sinnoh Pokemon that you may have.
- It doesn’t need to be holding anything, but items are always appreciated, including berries.
- Don’t be afraid to trade amongst yourselves!

Pokemon Farming: Gligar
July 30, 2007 | 64 Comments
Welcome to Johto week! All this week we will be featuring Pokemon native to the Johto region. To start things offer I present to you Gligar, the Ground/Flying Pokemon.
The Pokemon I used to breed these Gligar from is very near and dear to me. His name is Piko and I have had him since my foray into Pokemon Colosseum.
What is special about Gligar? For one thing he has the awesome typing of Ground and Flying. This makes him 100% immune to both Electric attacks and Ground attacks! Watch out for the Ice attacks though, those do hurt.
- These Gligar come with a very nice move set
- Poison Sting (Poison)
- Earthquake (Ground) S.T.A.B.
- Steel Wing (Steel)
- Aerial Ace (Flying) S.T.A.B. and never miss!
Following BryGuy’s lead each of these Pokemon is named after an element from the Periodic Table of elements. I only have so many of these wonderful Pokemon to share with you so it will be first come first served.
Rules
1. I don’t care what you trade me though I would prefer a non-Sinnoh Pokemon.
2. The Pokemon you trade to me must be holding something.
3. I prefer berries over all other items.
4. The only exception to berries are the two items that Magby/Elekid hold when caught in the wild.
5. For berries I need: 60+.
6. When you leave your information in the comments below your trainer name must be correct. When I do the trading I refer to the comments on the site to see who gets what.
7. When you enter the Wi-Fi zone select the trade option and wait for me to select you.

Pokemon Farming: Murkrow
July 25, 2007 | 16 Comments
Continuing this week’s theme of Dark Pokemon, today I’ll be giving away the Dark/Flying type, Murkrow. Murkrow was first introduced way back in Gold and Silver, and is the first Dark/Flying type to be introduced. Considering at the time most of the flying types (barring the 3 Legendary Birds) were either Bug/Flying or Normal/Flying, Murkrow’s introduction was a welcome change. This ugly bird has a fairly diverse move set, having the ability to learn Ghost, Dark, Flying, Ice and Normal-type moves, and has pretty decent Attack and Speed stats. In Diamond and Pearl I’ve found it to be a good choice for any party; however, the fact that he can only be found in Diamond limits his usefulness. Until now.
Today, I’ll be giving away Murkrow for all who want one, and here is all you have to do:
- Have something to trade. I will take anything, though I prefer non-Sinnoh Pokemon.
- It’d be nice if your trade were holding something, though it’s not necessary. I’m trying to collect all the berries, and currently I am missing #’s 31, 34, 48, 53, 59-64.
- Be in the wifi room by 8:00 EDT/7:00 CDT, and be in Trade Mode (Invite -> Trade). I will come to you.

I look forward to seeing you all tonight!

Pokemon Farming: Scyther
July 18, 2007 | 40 Comments
Today’s Farmer’s Market Favorite: Scyther!
Continuing on with our theme this week of farming out our favorites, today I will be giving away an old staple of mine from back in the Gold/Silver days, Scyther. When I first encountered Scyther in my copy of Gold, I didn’t think too much of it: ‘Eh, just some bug’. I quickly found out how wrong I was, that there was more to it than being ‘just some bug’. The fact that it’s dual-type makes it far less vulnerable to Bug-type’s usual Achilles’ Heel of Flying-type moves, it’s high Attack and Speed stats, a diverse move set, and it’s very cool evolution into the Bug/Steel type Scizor (a trade evolution with the Metal Coat - a pain but ultimately worth it) very quickly made this one a favorite and a staple of most of my parties!
Unfortunately, in Diamond and Pearl, catching one of these bad boys is easier said than done. First off, you need to have beaten the Elite Four before you can even consider going after it. You need to go to the Battle Area (the little island in the Northeast of the map) and work your way around to Route 229, past all the trainers and the high-level wild Pokemon (all of which are well over level 50), before you can encounter it. Oh, and that’s assuming that you’re playing a copy of Diamond. If you have Pearl, forget it. However, today, you don’t have to go through all of that; instead, I’ll be giving away this amazing little Flying Bug for all who want one!
The steps are simple:
- Leave a comment with your name and Trainer code. Make sure the code is correct! If it’s not I can’t enter it.
- Be in the Wifi Room by 8:00 Eastern/7:00 Central (I’m trying out a later time, see how well it works out).
- Have something to trade. I prefer non-Sinnoh Pokemon, though I will take anything! Also, if it can be holding something, that would be fantastic! I’m trying to collect all of the berries, I currently need berry #s 31, 34, 35, 48, 53, and 58 on up (this list has not been updated - I did get new berries last time, but I immediately planted them and now I don’t remember which ones I got). They’d be nice, but they are not necessary.
- Be waiting and ready in Trade mode (Invite -> Trade), and I’ll come to you.
- My info is - trainer name: Bott friend code: 2320 2629 3165
There’s a chance that I’ll be on early, so if you can make it early keep an eye out for me. I look forward to seeing you all there!
Pokemon Farming: Swablu
July 9, 2007 | 29 Comments
Welcome to the first Pokemon we are farming for Dragon week. You will notice that this Pokemon, Swablu, begins life as a Normal/Flying Pokemon before evolving into Altaria, a Dragon/Flying type Pokemon.
Not a very spectacular Pokemon among Dragon Pokemon but Swablu/Altaria is one of the few Dragon types that exist in the game. Swablu/Altaria is also special in that it is only a two-stage Dragon Pokemon. The other two Dragon type Pokemon that you can breed from Ruby and Sapphire are Bagon/Shelgon/Salamence (Dragon/Flying) and Trapinch/Vibrava/Flygon (Ground/Dragon).
Another leg up that Swablu has over these other two Dragon type Pokemon is that it evolves at level 35. Flygon evolves at level 45 and Salamence at level 50. Clearly Swablu is your quickest entry into the world of Dragon Pokemon.
An interesting question for many Dragon trainers, in regards to Swablu, is when to evolve him. If you evolve him at level 35 you get the move Dragonbreath. If you hold out until level 36 you can get Mirror Move. That is the only tough decision that you will have to make as the rest of the moves will eventually be learned by Altaria.
All of these Swablu come with the following moves: Peck, Growl, Astonish and Sing.
Rules
1. I don’t care what you trade me though I would prefer a non-Sinnoh Pokemon.
2. The Pokemon you trade to me must be holding something.
3. I prefer berries over all other items.
