Yellow Forest Course for HeartGold and SoulSilver

March 25, 2010 | 1 Comment

Do you love Pikachu? Then this course is for you!
As most of you know the new pokémon games HeartGold and SoulSilver were recently released and the newest feature is the Pokéwalker, a pedometer that you can take with you and earn watts that allow you to catch wild pokémon and receive items while you are away from your DS. For more information on the Pokéwalker check out this article.
The newest course will be available to download as a Mystery Gift over Nintendo wi-fi from April 1st to May 5th, 2010. While most courses have six different pokémon that you can battle and catch, this course has six different Pikachus that you can battle and catch.
Like the other courses the more steps that you accumulate in a day the more likely you are to encounter the rarer varieties and like other courses there are beneficial types to take on your stroll that lower the required steps by 25% and for this course those types are Ground, Electric, and Grass. It is not uncommon if you head out on a stroll with no pokémon in your pokéwalker that one will join your party and since it has to be a Pikachu you will have an advantageous type and may be able to bring back four Pikachus from your stroll.
Most of these Pikachus have moves that are not level-up moves and some have moves that can’t be acquired any other way.
These Pikachus are:

Group C
Level 10 ♀ (0+ Steps) holding an Oran Berry with the moves Thundershock, Growl, and Tail Whip

Level 10 ♂ (0+ Steps) holding a TinyMushroom with the moves Thundershock, Growl, Tail Whip and Thunder Wave

Group B
Level 12 ♀ (5000+ Steps) holding a Sitrus Berry with the moves Volt Tackle, Fake Out, Thundershock, and Growl

Level 13 ♂ (2000+ Steps) holding a Leppa Berry with the moves Flail, Thunder Wave, Helping Hand, and Shock Wave

Group A
Level 14 ♀ (9500+ Steps) holding a Lum Berry with the moves Surf, Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave and Quick Attack

Level 15 ♂ (10000+ Steps) holding a Shuca Berry with the moves Fly, Thunder, Growl, and Tail Whip

There are also items that can be found with the dowsing app and they are:
Big Mushrooom
Cheri Berry (600+ Steps)
Chesto Berry (700+ Steps)
Pecha Berry (800+ Steps)
Rawst Berry (900+ Steps)
Aspear Berry (1000+ Steps)
Big Root (4000+ Steps)
Miracle Seed (5000+ Steps)
ThunderStone (6000+ Steps)
Light Ball (7000+ Steps)

Unlike previous pokémon games, HeartGold and SoulSilver have the Mystery Gift box visible on the opening screen to start the game. Just scroll down below the CONNECT TO POKéWALKER box, click on the MYSTERY GIFT box, click RECEIVE GIFT and click GET VIA NINTENDO WFC.
You must have:

  • A HeartGold or SoulSilver game and a DS
  • Obtained the pokedex from Prof. Elm
  • Room for the wonder card (can’t have more than three)
  • A wireless connection setup (use the box below MYSTERY GIFT to establish your connection settings)

Once you download this course you can use it any time you like, but get your walking shoes on because 10,000+ steps for a Flying Pikachu is the highest step count goal of any of the courses and once you reach that plateau there is still only a 2-3% of finding a Flying or Surfing Pikachu.

Second Chance for the Shiny Pichu Event

March 14, 2010 | Leave a Comment

If you missed last month’s giveaway of the Shiny Pichu at Gamestop you get one more chance. The Shiny Pichu will trigger an event when traded to HeartGold and SoulSilver that will allow you to befriend a Spiky-Eared Pichu in Ilex Forest at the Celebi Shrine. The Shiny Pichu is darker colored than a normal one, similar to a Pikachu. These are available as a Mystery Gift download on the Nintendo Wi-Fi until March 25, 2010 so that Europe and Australia can get a chance to get them before HeartGold and SoulSilver are released there, but North American games can download them also. These Pichus will be at level 30 and will be holding an Everstone that will keep them from evolving. They will come with a Classic Ribbon and know the following moves:
Charge
Volt Tackle
Endure
Endeavor

The Spiky-Eared Pichu will also be at level 30 and will be holding a Zap Plate and know these moves:
Volt Tackle
Helping Hand
Swagger
Pain Split

If you have received mystery gifts before then you are ready to go. Just click on MYSTERY GIFT on the opening screen, then RECEIVE GIFT, then GET VIA NINTENDO WFC and it will load the Wonder Card on to your game.
If you have yet to receive a mystery gift, go to the 3rd floor in Jubilife TV. Talk to the man next to a lady and type in “everyone happy” as a response to his first question and type in “wi-fi connection” to the next question. Save your game and when you restart it the MYSTERY GIFT option box will appear below NEW GAME on the opening screen.

As per usual you will need to have:

  • Room for the wonder card (can’t have more than three)
  • A Diamond, Pearl or Platinum and a DS
  • Have obtained the Pokedex

Remember, you can only get one shiny Pichu per game cartridge and if you picked up one from Gamestop last month you won’t be able to download this one. You can, however, trade them to another game and restart your game thus allowing you to get as many Pichus as you can want if you are willing to grind through the intro part of the game over and over again.
Stay tuned as the Yellow Forest Event for the Pokéwalker has already been announced for April 1, 2010.
