Pokemon Heart Gold and Pokemon Soul Silver

As we near the Japanese release date of the new HeartGold and SoulSilver games scheduled for September 12, 2009 more and more details are being revealed about these much anticipated remakes of the classic Pokémon Gold and Silver games.

Several legendaries not previously available in the Diamond, Pearl or Platinum versions will make their appearance in HeartGold and SoulSilver. Lugia is the legendary bird available exclusively in SoulSilver and the fiery Ho-Oh can be found only in HeartGold. The legendary dogs, Entei, Suicune and Raikou, can be found in both games in the Brass Tower and after you confront them, they will roam Johto just as the legendary birds do in Platinum.

After beating the elite four, the game will become even more interesting as recently it was revealed that Kyogre will be catchable in HeartGold and Groudon in SoulSilver with ability to confront Rayquaza by bringing the two together. Kanto, where the pokémon adventures began, can be accessed by ship and you will have the opportunity to add Mewtwo to your collection of legendaries.

Similar to the Regigigas giveaway that allowed Platinum users the confront and capture Regice, Regirock and Registeel, having the Arceus event pokémon in your party will bring Cynthia from Sinnoh to the Shinto Ruins and allow you to obtain Palkia, Dialga or Giratina at level 1 each with a special move that they can’t normal learn. A Pikachu-colored Pichu is being given away with pre-sales for the newest Pokemon movie in Japan and it is said to unlock another area of Johto as does the Jirachi that was given away by Nintendo Zone in Japan.

While the US release isn’t scheduled until Spring 2010, the excitement is building for these new adventures and hopefully we should soon see the release of Dr. Oak’s letter allowing us to catch Shaymin in the wild and our own chance to get Arceus and the special Pichu this Winter.

Discuss this in our Heart Gold and Soul Silver thread on the forum.
