Shroom's Guide to Fishing
Forum Index > PokéFarm > Guides >
Fishing is often an overlooked part of Pokefarm, but it can actually be used for many things such as wishforge evolutions, hoarding, tourneys, and more!!
In this guide, you'll find all the possible fish you can reel in from fishing, rare genders/lack of, fish rarity, pokemon for wishforge evolutions (made possible with this guide), evolution tourney info, shiny info, and last of all, tips I've learned from fishing over the years! If you are looking for information on how to fish, please check out the Fishing Hut Wiki page ^^
Notes on fish rarity:
All fish were reeled in with the good rod and all percentages may not be completely accurate as I've only tested this once and rounded some of them. The "~" indicates the separation of the fish that are only found in that area and the fish that may be found in other areas.
You will likely go insane trying to fish for a Froakie or Relicanth.

Fishing Uses
Wishforge Evolutions
Water
Lotad: level 14
Magikarp: level 20
Lombre: water stone
Shellder: water stone
Staryu: water stone
Slowpoke: trade with king's rock
Clamperl: trade with deep sea scale/deep sea tooth
Grass
Lotad: level 14
Lombre: water stone
Psychic
Staryu: water stone
Slowpoke: trade with king's rock
Evolution Tourney
If the weekly tournament is "Evolve a variety of Pokémon", you can easily fish up some pokemon to get a head start! Recently fished pokemon count in the evolution tourney if their "eggs" were created after the listed dated.
Because each unique evolution counts as 5 points in the evolution tourney, you can attempt to fish these pokemon to reach at least the easy target by yourself without much effort:
Lotad: level 14
Magikarp: level 20
Shellder: water stone
Staryu: water stone
Most fished pokemon will already be leveled to some degree, making manual leveling unnecessary! Most lotads I have fished are already ready to evolve, and then you just have to use a water stone on the Lombre for another 5 points.
Shinies!
QUOTE originally posted by Pokefarm Wiki
On rare occasions, the hooked Pokémon can be a Shiny Pokémon. The exact odds of this occurring are unknown. When this happens, the sprite displayed will be the shiny sprite, and a [shiny star] symbol will be next to the Pokémon's name. Battles with Shiny Pokémon play out exactly the same as normal battles.
Helpful Tips
+ Most starter pokemon will be harder to catch (Oshawott, Froakie, Totodile, Piplup, Popplio, Squirtle)! Throwing too many rocks will scare them away once their Wrath bar is too high. Switch between throwing rocks and bait until their Strength bar is low enough to catch.
+ Remember to collect Fishing Poké Balls from the Fishing Hut every day even if you are not fishing, you get 20 free per day, which in turn you can sell to your inventory for 2,000 credits (You can only collect free Poké Balls up to a max of 20, so sell them before collecting more if you haven't already.).
+ Generally, it only takes 2-3 different lines of text under the action button before you can reel in your line. Watch carefully so you don't lose your bait.
+ If the Pokemon's rarity is lower than 5% (see above), I recommend searching the shelter for the Pokemon instead! hey according to the wiki it is possible to get a shiny while fishing has this been documented or has this ever happened to someone
yes it is definitely possible to get a shiny, I've reeled a shiny goldeen in before but didn't catch it sadly
oh that sucks
yeah but it's okay haha. I remember seeing someone showing off a shiny caught from fishing but I can't remember who it was. if you're going to try to catch one, good luck c:
I had a shiny magikarp and slowpoke appear while fishing today! was able to catch both of them
Also, I’d like to point out that sometimes you can catch a RTE magicarp, and you can probably catch others, too.
@Summerstrider added!!
@Ozprey nice !!! I've been fishing for a shiny forever and I haven't caught any; reeled in a Goldeen once tho ^^;
unrelated but if I find the time I'll update this guide soon, I also plan on making a list a pokemon that are harder to catch after you reel them in :)
