Johto Starters: Chikorita
April 10, 2009
Among the most difficult Pokémon to acquire in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, Chikorita is a grass Pokémon native to the Johto region. As one of the Gen II starters they are very versatile in their uses, learning a variety of moves that can carry their trainer through the story mode of the games. By the time they reach their final evolution at level 32 they are a tough little Pokémon with 100 in both defensive stats and 80 HP.
The Chikorita I’ve bred for this event are not intended to beat down the opposition as much as they are intended to support their teams. While Grass Knot gives them a decent offense, they really shine when they are defending and healing their teammates.
All will have a Bold nature, weakening their physical attack (which they aren’t using anyway) but boosting their physical defense to allow them to take hits a bit better.
Their move set is as follows:
Grass Knot: A quirky if potentially very powerful grass attack that works off of Chikorita’s special attack stat. It’s power is determined by the weight of the target. Against lightweights like Castform or Shedninja it has a measly power of 20. Against the heavyweights like Snorlax or Tyranitar it has a massive power of 120!
Leech Seed: A move that slowly drains the HP of your foe while healing you. It’s a great attack for forcing switches or punishing walls.
Aromatherapy: Nothing ruins your day like having your physical attacker burned or your fastest team member paralyzed. With Aromatherapy Chikorita can help! Using the move while on the field will not only cure any status effects on the user, it cures *all* status effects for the user’s entire team!
Reflect: Defend your team by erecting a mystic barrier that reduces all physical damage by 1/3 for 5 turns (longer if you can find some soft clay to hold while setting it up). Watch out for Brick Break!
As with all grass type starters, all my Chikorita will have the Overgrow ability. When reduced to below 1/4 health all their Grass type attacks gain a 50% bonus to their power!

There is a 9:1 ratio of boys to girls with all starters. I have a couple girls to give away but they will be claimed on a first come/first served basis. Unless you are one of the first people I trade with, expect to get a boy.

Nope, you’d only need the Nat. Dex if you were doing a GTS trade.
Your friend code is in your Pal Pad. Your Pal Pad appears in your Key Items pocket when you connect to Nintendo WFC for the first time, so you can just go to the basement of a Pokémon Center and talk to the assistants there to connect. (You have to have a Network set up on your DS, though, which you can do from the start menu->Nintendo WFC settings.)

whenever I connect to some folks I get kicked off. Others work fine.
