Hatching Eggs: The Fast and Easy Way!

August 14, 2007

So you have a big batch of Piplup eggs you’re itching to share with friends or use for a bargaining chip in a trade. Hatching the eggs is simple, just walk around with the egg in your party until it hatches. In normal game play that can take what seems forever, but as Pro Egg Hatchers, we farmers have all the tips to get those eggs hatched in the simplest, easiest way.

First off, you know you have to do some stepping to get results, some 5,000 to hatch one little Piplup egg. Some eggs even take upwards of 10,000 steps to hatch. You can cut this step count in HALF by having a Poke just in your party at the same time as the eggs with one of two abilities:

Magma Armor – Prevents Pokemon from getting a Freeze condition

Flame Body – Afflicts opponent Pokemon with a Burn condition 30% of the
time when it attacks Pokemon directly

These guys act kind of like an incubator. These include

240-3.png218-3.png323-3.png

  • Magby/Magmar/Magmortar (Flame Body)
  • Slugma/Magcargo(Flame Body or Magma Armor)
  • Camelrupt (Magma Armor) *it can also have Solid Rock as an ability so double check for the right one

Now, if you want to knock down a big batch of eggs fast you can’t really do it in normal game play, you need to get a lot of steps done in an efficient manner. One way is to hop on down to Solaceon town with your incubator of your choice, jump on your bike, set it to the ‘fast’ gear and work your way up and down route 210 and 209, until you are stopped by a line of trees or a mountain. If you lined it up right you should go up two of the muddy ramps and walked about 123 steps.

Another trick for a lot of steps fast is go to Fuego Ironworks, where you walk on tiles that send you places. There are certain tiles that send you back against a wall, so if you set it up right, you can just press the d pad toward the direction of the tile that will send you back to a wall for as long as you press it, racking up steps. You can just tape down the button and leave the game alone if you like, and wait for the hatching! (This is really nice for when you want to raise happiness too!)

So, with these tips in hand, you should be able to churn out babies like the best of us!

Thanks to Farmer Bott for lending some good info on the abilities!

We have two farmers out of town this week, so the trading might be a little thin. Expect a farming event tomorrow! As always thanks for you patience!

Actually if you have not already I highly recommend the National Pokedex put out by nintendo power. It is indispensable!

I have it, and it really is good. Attacks for EVERY Pokemon… good for raising, plus breeding and Underground sections.

It’s a very handy book to travel with, indeed.

For those who cannot afford to buy this guide, or has internet ready at all times, I recommend the website

PSYPOKE.com

for finding these info instead. This website has almost, if not all, the info printed in any game guide books out there. Plus, it’s free.

Another good website would be

SEREBII.net

I think most people know about that site already, however. Psypoke seems to me is a sleeper site.

If you have 2 pokemon with flame body, does it take only a quarter of the steps to hatch an egg?

No, it doesn’t.
The hatching power doesn’t add up.

You can try and compare; but I am 99% sure.

ok thanks. it’s a shame, otherwise you could have 5 with flame body and an egg and it would take almost no time at all.

I use the first way to “manually” hatch my eggs as well. Going up and down in that area is both handy and efficient.

I tried out the “Fuego Ironworks” way personally before also. I do NOT recommend that way unless you are going to physically leave your DS. In the building, you have to walk instead of biking. That significantly increases the time it takes for the eggs to hatch. I often find myself just using the 1st way since it is much faster.

Just my $0.02.

I like the manual way myself also, going up and down you can see when you have new eggs, very efficient indeed.

I’ve never tried the Fuego method myself. Originally I used the Bike Path-Highway-Thing (connecting Eterna with Oreburg), but having to dodge the occasional biker was a bit of a pain, and then a friend told me he used the straightaway alongside the Daycare center, and that’s what I’ve been using ever since. Like Tot said, it is very efficient, and also extremely convenient!

ill say, i have done that since i started playing, it is also good for raisng Poke levels in the Daycare. The Feugo is only good for happiness and daycare levels. If you tape B and the down button down on a certain square you will go up and down and you can leave the game on the charger

[...] Magby and its evolutions all have the ability Flame Body, which will burn the opponent if they come in contact with the user. This is also the ability which, when using these Pokes in your party, can half the time to hatch eggs! You can read all about it in our article, Hatching Eggs The Fast and Easy Way. [...]

In the end doen’t it evolve into Magmortar?!?!?!

To get magby you need pokemon leafgreen HA HA! If you don’ have it because I do. Once you have put your leafgreen in go io route 227 (Must have natinal dex) They are uncommon but I found mine on the forth try 75%Male 25%Female. When It is lv 30 It will evolve to magmar Your magby may hold the magmortizer. If not get one frm GTS,Trade Wi-Fi connection e.c.t Give it to your magmar and trade with a friend When it reaches the other side it evolves. Just trade back

CONGRATILATIONS YOU HAVE A MAGMORTAR(Like Me)

Hope I helped
