Pokemon Farming: Forum Special: Cyndaquil
March 3, 2008 | 82 Comments

Noctem’s Special Flamin’ Cyndaquil.
So, Cynaquil is a little weasel-mouse with a with a fiery personality once provoked. They’re usually timid but watch out, they’ll set their opponents a blaze!
So today, as a special treat, I’m offering them to you. Cyndaquil evolves into Quilava and later Typhlosion, which can be a great asset to any team as a lead or late game special sweeper. You can send it into battle alone or give it a Choice Scarf and watch it wreak havoc.
All of these little guys will be of the Timid(speed+,-attack) nature, to give your pokemon the extra speed it needs and will have the ability Blaze, fire attacks will gain a power boost if Cyndaquil’s HP falls below 1/3. So come adopt one of these little guys today for all of your Barbecuing needs, and roast your opponent’s pokemon.
Move set:
Eruption- An extremely powerful move that’s best used as the start of the battle, since it’s most powerful before Cyndaquil takes any damage. A 150 base power attack, plus STAB is a scary sight to behold.
Lava Plume- A secondary attack to use once Cyndaquil has taken some damage. While not as powerful, it still is a decently powered STABed move. So "Why not choose Flame Thrower?," you ask. The reason I chose Lava Plume is because of the 30% chance of causing burns, crippling physical sweepers, and it generally causes a nice amount of passive damage.
Hidden Power- While the power and type depends on the user’s IVs, hidden power is a very surprising attack. To check your pokemon’s Hidden Power Type, you’ll have to use an IV calculator.
Dig- It gives Cyndaquil some type coverage against rock types.

Pokemon Farming: Growlithe
December 17, 2007 | 62 Comments
Tonight, warm up this fire puppy, Growlithe!
**ANNOUNCEMENT! READ THIS!**
I, you’re trusty farmer Tot, had something urgent come up for Wednesday and I have to move the Growlithe Event to Thursday the 20th at the same time. This was a last-resort for me, as I know we all have plans that change from day to day, and I am really sorry. I will make it up and attach a heart scale to each one (legit, I am an underground treasure hunter!)! Take this to the move re-learner after you’ve evolved Growlithe to Arcanine to learn Thunder Fang!
Again: Event time has change to Thursday the 20th at 7pm ET
**READ ANNOUNCEMENT ABOVE!**

Growlithe, and its fire stone induced evolution, Arcanine, are fire-types from the 1st generation games. These ‘dogs of fire’ can cause quite some damage! Arcanine is so majestic even, that it is classified as ‘Legendary Pokemon’ (In name only, not in competitive battle!) To obtain one of these puppies in Diamond/Pearl, you have to hunt him down with a FireRed game inserted, which can make him a little difficult to come across, but tonight, I’ll be glad to give you one!
I had some challenges with breeding this guy up, I wanted to give him Extremespeed and Thunder Fang, but these moves he can only learn after evolving. That Thunder Fang would come in handy, too, for those water-types! I wouldn’t have my feelings hurt if you taught it these moves after evolving it. Instead I whipped up this move set for the Growlithes Ill be handing out:
- Crunch (Dark) Attack 80
- Heat Wave (Fire) Attack 100 STAB
- Flame Thrower (Fire) Attack 95 STAB
- Double-Edge (Normal) Attack 120 (user takes some recoil)
These Growlithes come with two abilities; Intimidate, which lowers opponents attack upon entering battle, and Flash Fire, which when user is hit by a fire move, it becomes immune to fire attacks and when it uses Fire attacks, their power is multiplied by 1.5.
Why warm up by the fire place for the holidays, when you can heat up with one of these fire puppies? Want one? Here’s what you do:

Pokemon Farming: Chikorita AND Cyndaquil
October 10, 2007 | 135 Comments

I’m doing two today for a couple of reasons. First, I feel bad, I’ve been sick with the Flu all this week and I didn’t have any time to make a nice move set Pokemon to hand out to everyone. I like to do move set Pokes so that even if you already have it, the moves make it really desirable. Simple, run of the mill egg hatching takes MUCH less time than carefully breeding move sets into 30 babies, too. We also have not done either of these two in the past couple of weeks, so I thought I’d make sure any newcomers would have the chance to get these hard-to-get starters!
The catch is that I can only give you one of the two, so choose which you would prefer the most and then follow these easy rules:
- Comment with your Name and Friend Code
- Even if we have traded before, I need your information again!
- Get a Pokemon to trade (preferably non-Sinnoh, though I will take anything, items are always appreciated.)
- Be in the Wi-Fi zone at 6:30pm EDT on October 11 (Thursday)
- Make yourself available to Trade (Invite–>Trade) I will come to you when I’m ready.
- If you are new to our site, your first comment will be moderated. Don’t worry if your post doesn’t show, we will get to it in time, and you will not miss out!
- Only Chikorita and Cyndaquil will be handed out tonight, thanks! I can’t give both to anyone, so choose wisely.

Expect something great next week, it’s already in the works! See everyone tonight!
