Yanma and its evolved form, Yanmega, make use of their high Special Attack and Speed in battle. Yanmega has a relatively diverse movepool, as well as the highest base stat total of all Bug-type Pokémon. Its abilities are also very helpful against the opposition: Speed Boost increases Yanmega’s Speed at the end of every turn, and Tinted Lens (which a Yanma with the Compoundeyes ability will inherit upon evolution) doubles the damage Yanmega gives to an opponent who has a type resistance to the attack.

They are all of Modest (+Special Attack, -Attack) nature and have the following moves at their disposal:

Protect – (Normal)
Protect will shield Yanma from nearly every attack for the turn, but its likelihood to work decreases if you use it repeatedly.
AncientPower – (Rock, Power 60, Acc 100)
This attack may increase all five of Yanma’s stats after inflicting damage to the foe. When leveling up Yanma, the presence of this move will trigger it to evolve into Yanmega.
Bug Buzz – (Bug STAB, Power 90, Acc 100)
This move may lower the foe’s Special Defense and its power is magnified due to the Same-Type Attack Bonus Yanma gets with its Bug typing.
Air Slash – (Flying STAB, Power 75, Acc 95)
A strong Flying-type move (also made more powerful by Yanma’s Flying typing) that may cause the foe to flinch.

All of these bugs show off their quick movement in battle, having a 31 IV stat in Speed. They’ll do the work so you don’t have to.

They are a powerhouses both in Attack and Defense. They can come in on physical attacks and clear the field of hazards by using Rapid Spin and set up entry hazards of their own. While little Phanpys can’t learn Rapid Spin, once they evolve to Donphan the move relearner will teach them it for the price of a Heart Scale. They can also learn powerful attacks from the Move Tutors such as Seed Bomb, Gunk Shot, Superpower and Bounce to round out an attack you team might be missing.
These little guys are already working as they have the Pickup ability and will gather items for you if you have them in your party during a battle. Once they evolve they take on a Sturdy ability that makes them immune to OHKO moves.
They are all Adamant (+ Attack, -SpAttack) about doing their part to help and know the following moves:

Body Slam - (Normal, Power 85, Acc 100)
A powerful attack that has a 30% chance of paralyzing your opponent

Ice Shard – (Ice, Power 40, Acc 100)
A priority move that hits Flyers that are immune to Earthquakes. This moves makes up for Donphan’s lack of speed by letting you get a jump on most moves and hits Dragons especially hard.

Stealth Rock
This sets up floating rocks that damage pokemon as they enter the battle based on their weakness to Rock attacks.

Earthquake (Ground STAB, Power 100, Acc 100)
One of the most powerful moves in the game that gets a STAB boost from Phanpy/Donphan’s Ground Typing

True to their tank-like nature these will all have a 31 IV in defense to insure that they will take a licking and keep on ticking.

The long awaited reopening of the Zeppelin Gym has arrived and with it comes the Zeppelin Festival. The Zeppelin Gym’s typing is Normal and Flying.
You can battle and earn one of the coveted Zeppelin badges by defeating Trombones13 in a pokefarm league gym battle.
Breeders can show off their skills by entering the “You Make The Team” contest. The breeder who enters the best offspring that is a Normal and/or Flying type will win a prize and have their pokemon make the Zeppelin Gyms battling team. For more information check out this thread in the forums.

In honor of the Zeppelin Gym I am giving away Fearows. They are level 49 and know the following moves:

• Agility - Agility raises its Speed two levels to double its base speed
• Assurance – (Dark, Power 50 Acc 100) Assurance along with its Normal typing serves as a great counter for Ghost types. Assurance’s power doubles if that pokemon has already received damage in that turn
• Roost - Roost restores half of Fearow’s maximum HP, but removes its Flying typing for the rest of that turn.
• Drill Peck – (Flying STAB, Power 80, Acc 100) A powerful STAB move that makes Fearow something to fear.

What makes these special from the run of mill Fearow caught on Route 225 is that all of these Fearows are shiny. I have around thirty of them and they will go to the first thirty that sign up here and meet me in the wifi room for the event.

One pokémon that is missing from Platinum is the Ant Pit Pokémon, Trapinch. Its evolution, Flygon, can learn some impressive new moves from the Platinum move tutors, but first you need one these little guys to train up.
Flygon has a higher base Attack than Special Attack, but these are bred with a Rash nature (+SpAttack, -SpDefense) to boost that Special Attack and take advantage of the exceptional movepool available to it once it takes its Ground/Dragon form and allow it to become a dangerous mixed attacker.

These mighty mites will come with the following moves:
Earth Power (Ground STAB, Power 90, Acc 100):
These little guys usually won’t learn this move until level 65. Even though it is a Ground type move, it is a special type move that preys on the opponent’s Special Defense stat. This allows it to rack up damage on some impressive physical walls like Rhyperior, Golem and Steelix that might survive an Earthquake. It also has a 10% chance of lowering an opponent’s Special Defense

Crunch (Dark, Power 80, Acc 100)
Another pre-evolution move that usually isn’t learned until level 33. This one is a physical move that has a 10% chance of lowering an opponent’s Defense.

Quick Attack (Normal, Power 40, Acc 100)
A priority move that will strike first.

Gust (Flying, Power 40, Acc 100)
This Flying type move will strike an opponent even if they use Fly.

Although Trapinch’s evolutions will acquire the ability Levitate that makes them immune to Ground type attacks, Spikes and Toxic Spikes, these little guys will have these abilities until then:
Arena Trap prevents opponents from fleeing or switching out unless they are a Flying type or possess a Levitate ability.
Hyper Cutter prevents their attack from being lowered by opponents

It has been rainy here on the west coast and all this rain reminds me of one of my favorite pokémon, the dancing Ludicolo. Ludicolo start out as a little Lotad and evolves from a Lombre by using a Water stone on it. They are a Grass/Water type which combined neutralize the effectiveness of the elemental attacks of Fire, Ice, Electric and Grass and provide a whopping 4x resistance to Water attacks. These Lotads are bred with a Modest (+SpAttack. -Attack) nature to provide a little more Special Attack and come with these following move-set:

Leech Seed (Grass, Acc 90)
Leech Seed saps HP from any opponent that is not a Grass type until it faints or switches out.

Toxic (Poison, Acc 85)
Badly poisons opponents with an increasing degree of damage as the battle progresses

Energy Ball (Grass, STAB Power 80, Acc 100)
A powerful grass attack that has a 10% chance of lowering an opponents Special Defense.

Ice Beam (Ice, Power 95, Acc 100)
A powerful counter for Grass type that resist Leech Seed and Flying type that may try to switch in. Has a 10% chance of Freezing foes.

Of course any of these can be taught the HM Surf (Water, STAB Power 95, Acc 100) or level Lombre up to level 45 and have it learn Hydro Pump (Water STAB, Power 120, Acc 80) before using your Water stone.

Lotad’s abilities both take advantage of this rainy weather.
Swift Swim doubles it speed when Rain Dance is in effect and
Rain Dish recovers 1/16th of its maximum HP at the end of every turn that Rain Dance is in effect.

Horseas are Water type pokémon that came be found by fishing with a Super Rod on Route 226. They gained a valuable evolution in the second generation as Seadras can evolve in Kingdras, a Dragon/Water type, by trading them with a Dragon Scale attached. These little Horseas are Special Attack oriented and bred with a Modest (+SpAttack, -Attack) nature and come with the following move-set:

Brine (Water STAB, Power 65, Acc 100):
Brine has the unique quality of doubling its power when the opponent’s HP is half or less. With the STAB boost, that is a power of 185.

Dragon Pulse (Dragon, Power 90, Acc 100):
If you evolve it into a Kingdra this will become a STAB move also.

Ice Beam (Ice, Power 95, Acc 100)
Unlike other Dragons, Kingdra only takes neutral damage from Ice moves. This move will hit other Dragons hard as well as Grass pokémon that might want to switch in against it.

Signal Beam (Bug, Power 75, Acc 100)
Another counter against those Grass types with a 10% chance of confusing the opponent.

Horsea has two very useful abilities:
Swift Swim doubles its speed when Rain Dance is in effect and
Sniper makes critical hits delivered by it do three times the damage instead of the usual two times.
Swift Swimmers will evolve into Poison Point Seadras, but back into Swift Swimming Kingdras

Sucker Punch (Dark STAB, Power 80 , Acc. 100%)
Absol moves first if opponent is planning to attack.
Taunt
Absol has a knack for enrageing it’s foes. As a result the opponent gets locked into attacking for two to four turns.
Swords Dance
There is nothing more beautiful than an Absol performing a Swords Dance to boost its attack two levels.

Trick or Treat; The IV’s on each Absol are all a surprise what you get is random. All Absol are named after different Buffy the Vampire Slayer characters. Please, don’t ask for a specific character or to change the nick name.

It was a cold, dark night
And in a dainty bedroom,
One boy would come face-to-face
With his untimely doom.

As the boy slept in bed,

Each Drifloon has a Modest (+SpAtk, -Atk) nature. They will all have these moves:

Calm Mind (Psychic, Power – , Acc. –%)
Drifloon calms down and raises both its Special Attack and Special Defense.
Rest (Psychic, Power – , Acc. –%)
Drifloon sleeps soundly, fully restoring its HP.
Shadow Ball (Ghost STAB, Power 80 , Acc. 100%)
Drifloon attacks the foe into submission with this STAB, high-powered move.
Will-O-Wisp (Fire, Power – , Acc. 75%)
Drifloon produces a glowing flame and burns its opponent.

While not all Drifloon have a 31 IV stat, many have multiple stats that are above 25. Also, all are being nicknamed after different ghosts, so please don’t request a nickname.

There is a tale about a mysterious pokémon that haunts the woods on the outskirts of town. It can be seen performing his Swords Dance by the pale light of a full moon and every year on Halloween it returns to the town to seek its vengeance.
This Jolly (+Speed,-SpAttack) Skorupi has grown tired of being ignored by pokémon trainers that are only looking for cute or powerful pokémon and have taken for granted its precise attacking abilities. While it is only a Poison/Bug type now it has been known to evolve into the Dreaded Drapion and shed its Bug typing for a Dark, more sinister type. With this new typing it is only weak to Ground attacks and has many resistances and immunities common to UU battles. It can easily slip into a battle unexpectedly, perform its Swords Dance and Slash away at opponents with no remorse.
Its moves are:
Swords Dance (raises his attack two stages)
Raising its attack two stages doubles its Attack strength.
X-Scissor (Bug STAB, Power 80, Acc 100)
A powerful move that is super effective against Dark, Psychic and Grass types and gives Skorupi a strong STAB move he can use while he is young
Poison Jab (Poison STAB, Power 80, Acc 100)
Another powerful STAB move that has a 30% chance of poisoning foes.
Night Slash (Dark, Power 70, Acc 100)
A slashing move with a high critical hit ratio that will be STAB move when Skorupi evolves into a Drapion.

Skorupi has two very useful abilities:
Battle Armor (probably due to its hockey mask) prevents it from being hit by a critical hit.
Sniper makes critical hits delivered by it do three times the damage instead of the usual two times.
