April Showers Farming: Qwilfish

One of the best abilities to take advantage of the rainy weather is Swift Swim. Swift Swim doubles the speed stat of a pokemon with that ability, usually allowing it to attack first. Keeping this in mind all these Qwilfish will have the Swift Swim ability and an Adamant nature (+ Attack, – Special Attack).
Qwilfish is a Poison/Water type with a good base attack and decent speed that allow it to be a formidable force on any Rain Dance team. These are all bred with the following physical attacks:

Poison Jab (Poison STAB, Power 80, Acc 100)
A powerful STAB move that has a 30% chance of poisoning foes.

Aqua Tail (Water STAB, Power 90, Acc 90)
Another STAB move that can be replaced with Waterfall (Power 80, Acc 100) if you like more accuracy and the 20% chance at causing opponents to flinch.

Explosion ( Normal, Power 250, Acc 100)
A super powerful move that will take down anything that doesn’t resist it. With Qwilfish resistant to many of the priority attacks and the speed advantage of Swift Swim, you can wait until its HP gets low and send it out with a bang to allow another teammate to have its fun in the rain.

Frustration (Normal, Power 1-102, Acc 100)
Worried about your Qwilfish not liking you continuously exploding it? Well as its happiness decreases, the power of this move will increase, up to a maximum power of 102. It will give you a solid base power of 74 to start with. So let it faint and feed it bitter herbs. The madder it gets, the more powerful this move becomes. Keep in mind that if you trade the pokemon, the happiness will reset to its base of 70.

  • To receive one of these prickly pufferfish, be in the wifi room on Wednesday at 5:00 PM Pacific (8:00 PM Eastern) on the April 29, 2008
  • Comment with your Name and Friend Code
