abraAbra Kadabra Alakazam!

In the world of pokemon, there are few examples of a lethal combination of speed and special attack.  This weekend’s pokemon is Abra.  Once an Abra is fully evolved to an Alakazam, it will have a base 135 special attack and 120 speed ranking it in the 98th and 97th percentile, respectively.   Although it has outstanding attributes in the previously mentioned stats, it does lack severely in defense and HP, making it extremely fragile to many offenses.

All Abra’s given out today will be of the Timid nature (+Speed, - Attack) and have either Inner Focus or Synchronize as their abilities. What is special about ALL of these Abra is they will have a 31 IV in both Special Attack and Speed stats. The move set for these pokes is as follows:

Taunt - forces the target to only use moves that can inflict damage.  A decent substitution until Trick can be learned through leveling up (Kadabra and Alakazam, lvl 46)

Calm Mind - Raises the users Special Attack and Special Defense each one stage, making for a very strong special attacker.

Psychic - STABed Special Attack with power of 90 and 100% accuracy

Hidden Power - the power and type of attack are dependent on the users IV’s.  Power ranges from 30 to 70.

I have a total of 27 of these pokemon and this event will be first come first served.  I will be making a thread in the “Missed Farming Events” section in the forum where anyone who missed the event may request any leftovers.

Shaymin Coming to Toys’R'Us in February 2009

Toys’R'Us has a new Pokemon download coming in February: Shaymin!

Yes, you heard me correctly. The mega toy retailer will be hosting a Pokemon download event between the dates of February 8th and the 14th.

Up until now Shaymin has been impossible to acquire in the US without cheating or trading for a Japanese one. This is not an item download but a download for the Pokemon itself.

    As per usual you will need to have:

  • Room for the wonder card (can’t have more than three)
  • An English version of Diamond or Pearl and a DS
  • Have obtained the Pokedex

Remember, you can only get one Shaymin per game chip. You can, however, trade the Shaymin to another game and restart your game thus allowing you to get as many Shaymin as you can want if you are willing to grind through the intro part of the game over and over again.

Pokemon Farming: New Years Special

Jirachi

Happy New Year!

This morning is New Years Day and we have a very special Pokemon to offer up to our loyal readers. This Pokemon is a very rare event Pokemon that can not be caught in any of the Pokemon games. How did I get so many of them for this bit of farming? I spent many grueling days with a copy of Ruby and the Pokemon Colosseum Bonus Disc. I had to restart the Ruby game and play for about 10 minutes to reach the point where I could download the Jirachi into the game. Yeah, it took me a long time to do this for all of you but I think it was worth it.

Jirachi

    Serene Grace: Boosts the likelihood of added effects appearing.
    Move Set

  • Wish - Normal - Status: A self-healing move. The user restores its own HP by up to half of its maximum HP in the next turn.
  • Confusion - Psychic, Power 50 and Accuracy 100%: The foe is hit by a weak telekinetic force. It may also leave the foe confused.
  • Rest - Psychic, Status: The user goes to sleep for two turns. It fully restores the user’s HP and heals any status problem.

Jirachi’s main problem is Ground and Fire Pokemon. Jirachi suffers double damage from Ground and Fire attacks. Fire Attacks should not be much of a problem as many people who use Fire Pokemon use Blaziken and Infernape which are Fighting/Fire Pokemon.

I only have a few of these to trade (less than 10) so it is first come, first served. Be sure to follow the rules as listed below and DO NOT double comment.
