Pokemon Farming: Christmas Special
December 25, 2007 | 42 Comments

Merry Christmas!
This morning is Christmas and we have a very special Pokemon to offer up to our loyal readers. This Pokemon is a very rare event Pokemon that can not be caught in any of the Pokemon games. How did I get so many of them for this bit of farming? I spent many grueling days with a copy of Ruby and the Pokemon Colosseum Bonus Disc. I had to restart the Ruby game and play for about 10 minutes to reach the point where I could download the Jirachi into the game. Yeah, it took me a long time to do this for all of you but I think it was worth it.
Jirachi
- Serene Grace: Boosts the likelihood of added effects appearing.
- Move Set
- Wish – Normal – Status: A self-healing move. The user restores its own HP by up to half of its maximum HP in the next turn.
- Confusion – Psychic, Power 50 and Accuracy 100%: The foe is hit by a weak telekinetic force. It may also leave the foe confused.
- Rest – Psychic, Status: The user goes to sleep for two turns. It fully restores the user’s HP and heals any status problem.
Jirachi’s main problem is Ground and Fire Pokemon. Jirachi suffers double damage from Ground and Fire attacks. Fire Attacks should not be much of a problem as many people who use Fire Pokemon use Blaziken and Infernape which are Fighting/Fire Pokemon.
I only have a few of these to trade (less than 30) so it is first come, first served. Be sure to follow the rules as listed below and DO NOT double comment. If this is your first visit here your first comment will be put in the moderation que so please do not triple comment asking why your comment is not showing up.
Rules
1. I will take any Pokemon you want to give me.
2. The Pokemon you trade to me should be holding something.
3. I prefer berries over all other items.

5. When you leave your information in the comments below your trainer name must be correct. When I do the trading I refer to the comments on the site to see who gets what.

Pokemon Farming: Growlithe
December 17, 2007 | 62 Comments
Tonight, warm up this fire puppy, Growlithe!
**ANNOUNCEMENT! READ THIS!**
I, you’re trusty farmer Tot, had something urgent come up for Wednesday and I have to move the Growlithe Event to Thursday the 20th at the same time. This was a last-resort for me, as I know we all have plans that change from day to day, and I am really sorry. I will make it up and attach a heart scale to each one (legit, I am an underground treasure hunter!)! Take this to the move re-learner after you’ve evolved Growlithe to Arcanine to learn Thunder Fang!
Again: Event time has change to Thursday the 20th at 7pm ET
**READ ANNOUNCEMENT ABOVE!**

Growlithe, and its fire stone induced evolution, Arcanine, are fire-types from the 1st generation games. These ‘dogs of fire’ can cause quite some damage! Arcanine is so majestic even, that it is classified as ‘Legendary Pokemon’ (In name only, not in competitive battle!) To obtain one of these puppies in Diamond/Pearl, you have to hunt him down with a FireRed game inserted, which can make him a little difficult to come across, but tonight, I’ll be glad to give you one!
I had some challenges with breeding this guy up, I wanted to give him Extremespeed and Thunder Fang, but these moves he can only learn after evolving. That Thunder Fang would come in handy, too, for those water-types! I wouldn’t have my feelings hurt if you taught it these moves after evolving it. Instead I whipped up this move set for the Growlithes Ill be handing out:
- Crunch (Dark) Attack 80
- Heat Wave (Fire) Attack 100 STAB
- Flame Thrower (Fire) Attack 95 STAB
- Double-Edge (Normal) Attack 120 (user takes some recoil)
These Growlithes come with two abilities; Intimidate, which lowers opponents attack upon entering battle, and Flash Fire, which when user is hit by a fire move, it becomes immune to fire attacks and when it uses Fire attacks, their power is multiplied by 1.5.
Why warm up by the fire place for the holidays, when you can heat up with one of these fire puppies? Want one? Here’s what you do:
- Comment with your Name and Friend Code
- Even if we have traded before, I need your information again!
- Get a Pokemon to trade (preferably non-Sinnoh, though I will take anything, items are always appreciated!)
- Be in the Wi-Fi zone at 7pm ET (New York time) on December 20 (Thursday)
- Make yourself available to Trade (Invite–>Trade) I will come to you when I’m ready.
- If you are new to our site, your first comment will be moderated. Don’t worry if your post doesn’t show, we will get to it in time, and you will not miss out!
My Information:
Trainer name: God
Friend Code: 5369 6895 7194
See everyone Thursday Night! If this does not work for you, I will be more than glad to try to meet up at later time, just ask!

This video comes from Japan and, well… You just have to watch it yourself to appreciate it.
After watching it be sure to leave a comment telling us which one is your favorite.
I have heard rumors that someone created a patch (no idea how you would use it) to the Fire Red and Leaf Green Pokemon games that allows you to replace the sprites in the game with the ones in the video above.
All I can say is that some things go over real big in Japan that do not do so well outside of Japan.

President of Pokémon USA, Inc. to Step Down
December 12, 2007 | 5 Comments

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Pokémon USA, Inc. today announced Akira Chiba, president, will resign at the end of this year. After years of dedicated service, Mr. Chiba is proud to leave Pokémon USA upon completing his mission to re-establish Pokémon as a successful global brand. Mr. Chiba joined Pokémon USA in 2002 when the company’s New York office was established, the brand’s first corporate headquarters outside of Japan. Upon stepping down, Mr. Chiba has plans to pursue other opportunities.
Mr. Chiba will be replaced by Mr. Kenji Okubo, previously executive vice president and head of Pokémon USA’s Seattle office, effective January 1, 2008. Mr. Okubo will manage Pokémon’s operations in New York, Seattle and London, and will oversee all Pokémon initiatives outside of Japan including the Pokémon Trading Card Game, the long-running animated TV series, North American and European licensing and the recently launched, Pokémon Trading Figure Game. Prior to joining Pokémon USA in 2004, Mr. Okubo worked at The Pokémon Company headquarters in Tokyo, Japan as director of international business.
“During Mr. Chiba’s tenure, Pokémon USA has greatly expanded,” said Okubo. “The brand is topping industry charts across all categories — including video games, toys, and trading card games — plus the Pokémon animated TV series is hugely successful on Cartoon Network. We thank Mr. Chiba for his efforts on behalf of Pokémon and wish him success in the future.”
I do not expect that this will result in much of a change at Pokemon USA HQ. I would like to take a moment to thank Mr. Chiba for his time at the helm and welcome Mr. Kenji Okubo on his promotion!
Pokémon Snap on the Wii
December 10, 2007 | 4 Comments

You heard me right. Nintendo has just released Pokémon Snap on the Wii’s Virtual Console.
As one of the most unique games in a renowned series, Pokémon Snap was the first truly 3-D Pokémon game and introduced the phenomenon to the Nintendo 64. Travel to Pokémon Island and meet Professor Oak to begin a safari, taking the best possible photographs of 63 different Pokémon as they exist in the wild, undisturbed by humans. This is not as easy as it sounds—the island has many types of climates and environments to explore, along with secret activities and hidden passages to discover. Plus, some of the Pokémon can be a little shy and won’t pose for the camera unless you tease them with special items. After you’re done, submit one picture of each Pokémon to Professor Oak, and he’ll judge it based on size, pose, technique and number of Pokémon captured.
For a mere 1,000 points you can relive the days of Pokémon Snap on your Wii. You can either spend the $20 on a classic controler or use an old Game Cube controler.

Pokemon Farming: Leftovers
December 8, 2007 | 67 Comments

Back, by popular demand!
This morning is a surprise leftover session of Pokemon Farming. I have a small quantity of Heracross, Zangoose and Totodile from previous breeding sessions.
Heracross
- These Pokemon will come with one of two nature:
- Swarm: When HP is below 1/3rd, Bug’s power increases to 1.5 times.
- Guts: Attack raises to 1.5 times when induced with a status (BURN, PARALYZE, SLEEP, POISON, FREEZE). BURN’s effect of lowering Attack is not applied.
- Move Set
- Stone Edge – Rock – Power 100, Accuracy 80%: The user stabs the foe with a sharpened stone. It has a high critical-hit ratio.
- Night Slash – Dark, Power 70 and Accuracy 100%: The user slashes the foe the instant an opportunity arises. It has a high critical-hit ratio.
- Close Combat – Fighting, Power 120 Accuracy 100%: The user fights the foe in close without guarding itself. It also cuts the Defense and Special Defense after use.
- Megahorn – Bug, Power 120 Accuracy 85%: Utilizing its tough and impressive horn, the user rams into the foe with no letup.
Zangoose
All Zangoose have the Immunity ability which means they can never be poisoned. This plays into their life-long hatred of Seviper.
- Move Set
- Swords Dance – Normal, increases your Attack power.
- Crush Claw – Normal, 75 Power and 95% accuracy.
- Close Combat – Fighting, 120 Power and 100% accuracy. It also lowers your Defense and Special Defense after use.
- Shadow Claw – Ghost, 70 Power and 100% accuracy.
Totodile
- Move Set
- Superpower – Fight This is a great physical attack with a power of 120! However it also lowers your Attack and Defense, use it as a finishing move.
- Ice Fang – Ice What better attack than this for getting back at those Grass Pokemon that you know your opponent is going to throw at you?
- Aerial Ace – Flying As if Ice Fang was not good enough I even passed on the “never miss” move Aerial Ace!
- Aqua Tail – Water Not as powerful as Hydro Pump but it is more accurate.

Pokemon Farming: Heracross
December 1, 2007 | 61 Comments

Today we bring you the Bug Fighting Pokemon Heracross!
Heracross has long been a popular Pokemon. With the release of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl he has seen his move set increase to make him even more useful in battling.
The thing about Heracross that stops many newcomers from using him is that all of his real good moves are learned much later in his life. The only Bug move he can learn by leveling up is the very effective move Megahorn learned at level 55. Yes, level 55!
In order to give these Heracross an awesome move set I had to level up both a male and a female to level 55. It took me some time to do my preliminary farming on these little buggers but I think you will find it well worth it when you see how they will be coming to you. In fact, I would be willing to bet that the moves they hatched with are the best possible moves for a Heracross.

When selecting the moves I looked at Heracross and his weaknesses. The one that stuck out is Flying. With a 4X weakness to Flying attacks I knew Heracross had to have something to deal with those pesky Flying Pokemon. Stone Edge is the answer. As long as you can get the first attack in Heracross should be able to use Stone Edge to knock those pesky birds out of the sky.
Aside from Stone Edge the other attacks are designed to take Heracross’s high Attack score and use it to pummel your foes into the ground. Between guts and Swarm a wounded Heracross becomes a truly dangerous Heracross. His 120 power attacks can quickly become 180 power attacks!
You can acquire a Heracross from a sweet honey tree but that may take some time. It is far easier to get one right here!
