Pokemon Farming: Tangela

Pokemon Farming: Tangela

It is that time once again. Time for me to offer an amazing Pokemon farmed for your Pokemon pleasure. I spent a long time thinking about this one (and an even longer time getting ready) and it is now ready for you.
Today I give to you the Grass Pokemon Tangela.
Tangela first appeared in the original Pokemon games for Game Boy. This “knotty” little clump of weeds and vines looks like something that belongs on the end of a pencil. If you do not know what I mean then ask your parents! You will find Tangela in the PokeDex at spot number 70. Most of its stats are below average but it has a very high Special Attack.
When diamond and Pearl came out Tangela was one of the few Pokemon to gain a bonus evolution based on learning an attack. That attack is Ancient Power and once it learns it Tangela will evolve into Tangrowth. Tangrowth is a superior version of Tangela with much improved stats.
Tangela learns Ancient Power at level 33 but if my breeding program holds true these Pokemon will have it at level one. Which means you will be able to have a level two Tangrowth if you so desire.
These Tangela will have one of the following poke Powers: Cholorphyll or Leaf Guard.
If all works according to my plan they will have the following attacks: Ingrain, Power Whip, Leaf Storm and Ancient Power.
I have not yet begun to hatch these Pokemon because I need both parents to reach level 54 so they will both know Power Whip and be able to pass it on to their kids. If there is a problem I will post an update here.
Rules
1. I don’t care what you trade me though I would prefer a non-Sinnoh Pokemon.
2. The Pokemon you trade to me should be holding something.
3. I prefer berries over all other items.
4. The only exception to berries are the two items that Magby/Elekid hold when caught in the wild.
5. For berries I need: numbers 60+.
6. When you leave your information in the comments below your trainer name must be correct. When I do the trading I refer to the comments on the site to see who gets what.
7. When you enter the Wi-Fi zone select the trade option and wait for me to select you.
8. If you can, be early. I am sometimes on early.
9. Don’t be afraid to trade amongst yourselves.
My information:
Trainer: Ezekial
Friend Code: 0559 3242 3898
- Instructions
- Have something to trade to me
- Be in the Wi-Fi zone by 7:00PM EDT (New York Time) on Tuesday October 16, 2007
- Be ready
Update
As the Pokemon began to hatch I found that Ingrain would not pass on to the kids! In place of the move Ingrain these Pokemon now have Wring Out. I will be hatching 30 Tangela tonight. Be there or go without!
PS: I might be on early. If I am I will post as such here.
Where to find those EV’s
October 14, 2007 | 11 Comments
Hello everyone!
I have seen a lot of information floating around the PokeFarm forum on the subject of EV’s or Effort Values. I took some time and wrote up a few pages on my web space about where you can find the EV’s you need for Pokemon training. If you are like me, you want EV training over and down with as quickly as possible. So what makes it go quickly? Well you can always go and find a Pokemon that gives the most EV’s for the stat you want. What if it is a low spawning Pokemon? Maybe a Pokemon that gives less EV’s, but spawns more frequently is the answer.
What is the best Pokemon to battle for this? Well I hope this guide will help.

These small guides are just the tip of what can be found throughout Sinnoh. You can find most of these Pokemon very early in the game. EV training early could also speed up your game play. These guides will also help pick the right Pokemon to EV against. If you are training an Electric Type in Defense you will not want to go battle Geodude, so this guide helps you find something weak to your Electric Type. I have all Pokemon and their EV’s listed on my site. It is separated by Stats just like the guides here.. The site is still a work in progress. I also used Excel to make the charts, so sometimes all the lines don’t show up, but if you refresh the page it should work. Here is a link to my site with the entire Pokemon listing charts.
C.W.A. Stables Presents: An EV Guide
The guides seem very long, when you consider half of the Pokemon are not found in the game and can only be obtained by evolution. I put all Pokemon and their EV’s just in case Nintendo and Game Freaks add away in another version to EV train like you could in Emerald. I have used this guide since I wrote it back when I played Ruby and Sapphire. New Pokemon have been added and some old Pokemon have had their EV’s change, but this guide is up to date with Diamond/Pearl and should be 100% accurate. If you find any inaccuracies please let me know. Drop a comment or even send me an e-mail.
Pokemon Farming: Chikorita AND Cyndaquil
October 10, 2007 | 140 Comments

I’m doing two today for a couple of reasons. First, I feel bad, I’ve been sick with the Flu all this week and I didn’t have any time to make a nice move set Pokemon to hand out to everyone. I like to do move set Pokes so that even if you already have it, the moves make it really desirable. Simple, run of the mill egg hatching takes MUCH less time than carefully breeding move sets into 30 babies, too. We also have not done either of these two in the past couple of weeks, so I thought I’d make sure any newcomers would have the chance to get these hard-to-get starters!
The catch is that I can only give you one of the two, so choose which you would prefer the most and then follow these easy rules:
- Comment with your Name and Friend Code
- Even if we have traded before, I need your information again!
- Get a Pokemon to trade (preferably non-Sinnoh, though I will take anything, items are always appreciated.)
- Be in the Wi-Fi zone at 6:30pm EDT on October 11 (Thursday)
- Make yourself available to Trade (Invite–>Trade) I will come to you when I’m ready.
- If you are new to our site, your first comment will be moderated. Don’t worry if your post doesn’t show, we will get to it in time, and you will not miss out!
- Only Chikorita and Cyndaquil will be handed out tonight, thanks! I can’t give both to anyone, so choose wisely.
My Information:
Trainer name: God
Friend Code: 5369 6895 7194
Expect something great next week, it’s already in the works! See everyone tonight!
Pokemon Farm coming to Wii!!
October 10, 2007 | 15 Comments
Nintendo has just announced a new Wii Ware title due out next year to be called Pokemon Farm (guess I missed registering that domain eh?). If you can read Japanese you can see the live blogging over here. If not you will have to do like me and look around the net for places that will translate the information for you.
Nintendo has announced Pokemon Bokujou, which translates to the English Pokemon Farm. With this Wii Ware title, you can transfer your Pokemon from Pearl and Diamond to the Wii, then raise them in a farm-like environment.
This looks like a Pokemon Box for the Wii with some upgrades.

Manaphy contest is now over
October 8, 2007 | 5 Comments
Last week we ran a contest to see who would win the extra Toys’R'Us Manaphy I acquired. It has now been one week and I have chosen a winner.
As you know I joined the forum and started playing Pokemon in an attempt to help my daughter and son collect Pokemon and have some fun with their old man. My daughter lives in Virginia (us in Wisconsin) and Pokemon is not very welcome in her mother’s house (lower case mother on purpose). Her mother won’t even setup the WiFi connector I bought her so we can trade when she’s not here.
I intended to go to the event , but got caught in the household chores, so was unable to make it. I have a Manaphy that was traded here on the forums, but this event one was going to be a surprise trade for her when she visits at Christmas.
That is my personal reason for asking for my consideration to receive the event Manaphy. I am also going to try and catch Achetes Manaphy give away, and would note that I would not accept both if I did receive one.
Wondering who wrote that piece? Well you could check in the forums and read the entire thread (and all the sob stories) or you could just continue reading here and I will tell you.
The winner is Trevor from the forums!
Hey Trevor, drop me a PM so we can trade!
PS: I chose Trevor’s entry because he is using Pokemon to bond with his kids, which is something I greatly endorse.
Special Pokemon Farmer’s Market: Second Harvest
October 7, 2007 | 79 Comments

Greetings, Everyone!
Welcome to a special edition of the Sunday Farmer’s Market: Second Harvest. My handle here is BryGuy. Today’s Farmer’s Market will be very different, so please be aware of the new conditions. Over the past number of weeks I have been offering pokemon with special movesets. My last two farming events have featured quirky, normal-type pokemon from the Gold and Silver days. I pumped-up these pokemon by breeding them to have amazing movesets. I have quite a few of these awesome pokemon remaining after my farmer’s market. Instead of releasing these special pokes to the wild or trading them away to some lucky stranger on the WTS, I have decided to offer them again to the Poke Farm community. The pokemon that I am offering today are as follows:
- Miltank (about 19 individuals)
- Stantler (about 12 individuals)

These are the same little guys I offered at previous Farmer’s Market Events. They all have amazing movesets, they are all 100% game-legal, and they were all bred by me using normal methods and loving care! Check my previous Farmer’s Market posts to see all the details about these awesome pokemon. Please be careful to follow the special procedures indicated below.
Here are the rules and procedures for today’s Second Harvest Farmer’s Market:
- Enter my trainer name and friend code into your pal pad. My trainer name is BryGuy and my friend code is 3737 6015 6762.
- Have a Pokemon ready in your party to trade to me. Today I will accept anything, but I like to be surprised! I especially appreciate receiving male pokemon that have special moves due to breeding. If you have been experimenting with breeding pokemon, I would love to receive the results of your work in trade for mine! I also really appreciate it if the pokemon is holding something (berries, items, TMs, etc.).
- Post a comment to this article saying which ONE of these pokemon you would like. I will issue them on a first-post, first present, basis. If you are not ready in the WiFi Club when I come to trade with you, I will move to the next person on my list. You may need to accept the pokemon offered to you. There will probably not be much choice in terms of male or female, etc.
- In your post requesting a pokemon, MAKE SURE YOU CLEARLY AND ACCURATELY LIST YOUR TRAINER NAME FROM YOUR GAME AND YOUR FRIEND CODE. EVEN IF WE HAVE TRADED BEFORE, PLEASE LIST THIS INFORMATION. I had to clear my Pal Pad a few times so most of my previously entered “Pals” have been removed. I will enter as many of friend codes before the Farmer’s Market as I can.
- In your game, enter the WiFi Club at 6:00 pm eastern time (5:00 pm central time) on Sunday, October 7, 2007. Please note this special time for today!
- When you enter the Wi-Fi zone make yourself available for trading by selecting “INVITE” then “TRADE” and wait for me to select you.
- Please be patient. I may have to leave the WiFi Club sometimes to get more pokemon. Please don’t panic, I’ll return promptly!
- The Farmer’s Market will run from 6:00 to 7:00 pm EDT.
- I am only prepared to trade the pokemon listed above. Please do not ask for other Pokemon. I will not be trading anything other than what I have listed tonight. Thanks.
I am looking forward to trading. See you at the Farmer’s Market!

Pokemon Farming: Treecko
October 2, 2007 | 91 Comments
Today in Pokemon farming we present, the grass starter, Treecko!
Today’s pokemon is our forums choice! A couple of days ago, I couldn’t pick what starter I would do for todays farming, so I asked our great group at our forums! After a few days of voting, a winner was chosen and it was Treecko! I gave it a nice moveset and I am handing it out tonight!
Unfortunately, in the past when I have played my Ruby/Sapphire games, I’ve only played
with Mudkip, due to a rather giant bias. So I’ve never played a game with Treecko or it’s evolutions Grovyle and Sceptile. But working with him the last couple of days have shown me everything this little beast can do! Hes got great speed and can learn some great moves, I’ve always liked moves like Giga Drain, that both inflict damage and regain HP. It’s obvious why! So here’s the move set that I gave him, seems like a fun one!
- Giga Drain (Depletes opponents HP, raises it’s own HP)
- Rock Slide (Rock type move to deal with those fire types)
- Leaf Storm (Powerful STAB)
- Grass Knot (A move that increases in power depending on the opponents weight)
So, do you want on these Forum Choice Treecko? Heres how!
- Comment with your Name and Friend Code
- Even if we have traded before, I need your information again!
- Get a Pokemon to trade (preferably non-Sinnoh, though I will take anything, items are always appreciated. If anyone has a Taillow to spare though, I’ll gladly take one! Not required though, of course!)
- Be in the Wi-Fi zone at 8pm EDT on October 3 (Wednesday)
- Make yourself available to Trade (Invite–>Trade) I will come to you when I’m ready.
- If you are new to our site, your first comment will be moderated. Don’t worry if your post doesn’t show, we will get to it in time, and you will not miss out!
- Only Treeckos will be handed out tonight, thanks!

See everyone tonight!
Pokemon Farming: Manaphy?
October 1, 2007 | 44 Comments
This past weekend I went to my local Toys’R'Us store and acquired two Manaphy via the in store event. When I came back I posted a note saying that I would give away one of them in a contest. That contest is now here.
All you have to do to enter this Manaphy contest is to join our forum and post in this thread your own personal reason as to why you should get this Manaphy. Be as creative as you want. Do not post in the comments below!
Next Monday, October 8,2007 I will pick a winner and set up a time to transfer the Manaphy to them.
I apologize for not having a regular farming event for today but I think some of our loyal readers may consider this bit of a contest to be better than any other Monday farming event!
PS: Forum membership requires an email verification and an administrators approval. I approve new forum accounts about three times a day.
