Reporting from the Manaphy event

September 29, 2007 | 27 Comments

What an amazing day! I took my daughter and one of her friends with me when we made the trip down. After a 45 minute drive we arrived!

When we entered the store we saw a small collection of Pokemon toys. A few steps later and we were in the video game section where a small crowd of Pokemon players had already gathered.

There were a lot of kids there for the event and a few adults. Like me, those adults “claimed” to be there to get the Pokemon because their kids could not make it. After a few minutes of talking it quickly became apparent which adults were there for their kids and which were their for themselves!

After downloading Manaphy into my two game cartridges I talked to some of the others who were there doing trades. I managed to trade about 30 Pokemon all told. I cleaned out all of my leftover Totodiles and Gibles today! i also traded away a few other Pokemon that were in demand that I knew I could easily replace (Elekid, Lugia, Piplup).

While trading the two kids I brought with me were spreading the word about PokeFarm among all the other kids there. So, if this is your first visit to the farm then I bid you welcome!

Because I acquired a second Manaphy I will be giving the extra one away in a contest.

Because there are so many Pokemon fans in my area I’m going to be going forward with a plan to host some local Pokemon events at a wired cafe near me.

All in all we had a great time and made some great trades. If you are new here don’t forget to check out our forum!

Pokemon Farming: Magby

September 26, 2007 | 85 Comments

Today in Pokemon Farming we present: Magby, the ‘live coal Pokemon!’dpmfb240.png

Magby, and it’s evolutions Magmar and Magmortar are all tricky to get in-game, to get Magby you have to go to Stark Mountain with Leafgreen inserted into your DS and hunt one down. Too bad if you don’t have Leafgreen, because you can’t get it! If you do manage to get one, you can level it up to Lv. 30 and it will evolve into Magmar, a throwback to first generation games. To get the final Evolution, Magmortar is tricky yet again, you have to not only trade it, but trade it with the item Magmarizer attached, which you can pick off a wild Magby. How extremely complicated!

Well today, I intend to help you with one of the steps, by handing out Magby! But this is no run-of-the-mill fire starter Magby, this is a mind-reading, future-telling, Psychic Magby!

Looking in on Magby’s beefy movepool, I see that it can learn the rather powerful Psychic move, well, Psychic! Here the whole cool move set I gave it:

  • Psychic
  • Thunderpunch (to deal with those pesky water types)
  • Fire Blast (Powerful STAB)
  • Fire Punch (STAB)

Magby and its evolutions all have the ability Flame Body, which will burn the opponent if they come in contact with the user. This is also the ability which, when using these Pokes in your party, can half the time to hatch eggs! You can read all about it in our article, Hatching Eggs The Fast and Easy Way.

I looked into seeing if I could hand out the item with it, but I can’t! I have Diamond, which Magbys found in the wild have a much lower chance of having of the wild-held item (5%!), Pearl having a 50% chance. Also, I don’t even have Leafgreen! So I can NOT give out Magmarizers!

So you want one of my crystal-ball-gazing Psychic Magbys?

  • Comment with your Name and Friend Code
    • Even if we have traded before, I need your information again!
  • Get a Pokemon to trade (preferably non-Sinnoh, though I will take anything, items are always appreciated. If anyone has a Slakoth to spare though, I’ll gladly take one! Not required though, of course!)
  • Be in the Wi-Fi zone at 7pm EDT on September 27 (Thursday)
  • Make yourself available to Trade (Invite–>Trade) I will come to you when I’m ready.
  • I am only giving out Magbys tonight, sorry!

My Information:

Trainer name: God

Friend Code: 5369 6895 7194

I chose the alternative sprite to post here because he looks like he is sneezing! See everyone tonight!

Electivire Code Revealed

September 25, 2007 | 19 Comments

If you purchased Pokemon Battle Revolution than you have probably heard about the Mystery Gifts you can unlock in that game. For one thing you can get a “Surfing” Pikachu once you beat the game.

Rumors have been going wild around the Internet about other Mystery Gift Pokemon that can be unlocked in the game, this is one of them.

Today Pokemon-games.com put up a page where you have to go through several tests to unlock this code. After completing these tests I have posted the code here for your enjoyment!

Use this code in PBR to unlock a mystery Pokemon BA16-X4SH-E2AT in the North American copy.

UPDATE: European Codes:
English: tko3-9jwp-34kl
French: jk4i-df87-dsf9
Spanish: 04in-1ynj-24fv
German: 0f9-ud0g-ughj
Italian: t4oi-6j8d-sb5r

You also receive a Gold Custom Pass

1. From the reception desk, select the Profile menu.

2. Once you are in the Profile menu, select “Profile” again. Then, choose “Self-introduction.”

3. On the message input screen, enter the code EXACTLY as it appears, including the hyphens between the numbers. Once you’ve entered the code, select “Confirm.”

4. You will be taken back to the Profile menu. Select “OK” at the bottom of the screen

5. If you entered the code correctly, the receptionist will appear and tell you that you have received a special Mystery Gift. Once you get this message, go to the Shop menu, choose “Mystery Gift,” look for the Shocking Secret Gift, select it, then follow the instructions that appear on the screen.

After you complete the process and download the Electivire to your DS you need to go to the nearest PokeMart to pick him up! Once you do you will have a Pokemon with the trainer ID of 06257/PKTOPIA. This Pokemon is level 50, holding a Magnet and knows the following moves:

  • Thunder Punch – Electric
  • Ice Punch – Ice
  • Cross Chop – Fight
  • Earthquake – Ground

The Cross Chop move will work great against your Ground type enemies!

Manaphy at Toys’R'Us!

September 24, 2007 | 32 Comments

Manaphy at Toys’RUnless you have been living under a rock you have heard about the amazingly hard to get Pokemon Manaphy. This Pokemon is so rare that you either have to suffer through ten hours of Pokemon Ranger or know someone who has suffered to get it.

I suffered through the Pokemon Ranger game long before the Manaphy Egg code was even whispered about but you do not have too!

Well, you might if you live in a far away land. By far away I am referring to any place other than the USA.

If you live in the USA than you can go to (almost) any Toys’R'Us store in the USA on Saturday September 29th from 12 noon to 3:00 PM. Not only can you get a Manaphy but they are also going to give you $5 off of any DS game you purchase.

You are probably wondering one other thing. Back when they gave a Mew away last year the DS games were not yet out. Because of this it took forever waiting on the guys in the video gaming area to load up their games with Mew and then trade over the link cable. Yes, it was horribly slow and the lines were very long.

Not so this time! Due to the magic of Wi-Fi and the beauty of the DS Mystery Gift system you will not have to wait in line to get your Manaphy! what this also means is that you can not get more than one Manaphy per game cartridge.

If you are in the Danbury CT area you might meet me. I will be going to the Danbury CT Toys’R'Us store to get my Manaphy (and a few extra because I own multiple copies of the games). I will attempt to take some pictures and interview some of the Pokemon fans I meet there.

    This Manaphy has:

  • Held Item: Red Scarf
  • PokeBall: Cherish Ball
  • Move 1:Heart Swap
  • Move 2:Water Pulse
  • Move 3:Whirlpool
  • Move 4:Acid Armor

Most importantly this Pokemon CAN NOT BE TRADED ON GTS.

Pokemon Farming: Totodile

September 24, 2007 | 196 Comments

TotodileToday we are happy to bring you the water starter, Totodile!

What, we’ve done Totodile before? While you are correct in stating that fact you must also understand that Totodile is one of our most asked for Pokemon. This is due in large part to the difficulty in acquiring one in the course of normal game play.

Even though Totodile has been farmed more than once her at the farm I’m going to do it again. As always I would like to remind everyone to read this entire post and the instructions at the bottom before you post a comment.

While training the parent Pokemon for this brood I had a real good set of attacks and a mom and dad with good IVs. I started breeding, and I started hatching, and I started crying! I made the mistake every breeder makes now and then. I forgot that Pokemon in the day care will learn new moves if they level up while in the day care. My carefully crafted plans were thwarted when one of the parents gained a level and learned a new move, replacing one of the old moves.

Understanding that this may happen again because these two Pokemon were still in the prime “learning zone” I was off to the Elite Four to level these two up as fast as I could. I also had to make a short detour into the Underground to dig up some Heart Scales.

A few hours later I was back in business! You are probably wondering what awesome moves these Pokemon have aren’t you? Well, I’m not going to tell! Nope, at least not yet.

I was a little bit worried while hatching my last group of eggs. When I pulled the Totodile out of the Day Care Center both of them had learned a new attack! I put them in at a high level so I thought they would not gain enough EXP to level up but they did.

Without further ado, here is the list of their attacks:

  • Crunch – Dark This is a great physical attack and fits with the powerful set of mandibles on this Pokemon!
  • Ice Fang – Ice What better attack than this for getting back at those Grass Pokemon that you know your opponent is going to throw at you?
  • Aerial Ace – Flying As if Ice Fang was not good enough I even passed on the “never miss” move Aerial Ace!
  • Aqua Tail – Water Not as powerful as Hydro Pump but it is more accurate.

In case you might not have noticed all of those moves are Physical Attacks. Why is this important? It is important because Totodile and his later evolutions are heavy on the Attack score and not so much on the Special Attack.

Rules
1. I don’t care what you trade me though I would prefer a non-Sinnoh Pokemon.
2. The Pokemon you trade to me should be holding something.
3. I prefer berries over all other items.
4. The only exception to berries are the two items that Magby/Elekid hold when caught in the wild.
5. For berries I need: numbers 60+.
6. When you leave your information in the comments below your trainer name must be correct. When I do the trading I refer to the comments on the site to see who gets what.
7. When you enter the Wi-Fi zone select the trade option and wait for me to select you.
8. If you can, be early. I am sometimes on early.
9. Don’t be afraid to trade amongst yourselves.

My information:
Trainer: Ezekial
Friend Code: 0559 3242 3898

    Instructions

  • Have something to trade to me
  • Be in the Wi-Fi zone by 7:00PM EDT (New York Time) on Monday September 24, 2007
  • Be ready

Pokemon to be in Super Smash Brothers Brawl

September 22, 2007 | 9 Comments

Super Smash Brothers Brawl

On December 3, 2007 Nintendo will be releasing the newest incarnation in the Smash Brothers series with Super Smash Brothers Brawl for the Wii. Right now you can cruise your way on over to the Smash brothers Dojo site and see all of the new characters coming out for the game but I wanted to take a few minutes and focus on the Pokemon aspect of the game.

Pokemon Trainer

The Pokemon TrainerYou see this guy? He is the Pokemon Trainer. He comes with three Pokemon; Squirtle, Ivysaur and Charizard.

Just like in Pokemon the trainer does not do any real fighting, he just sends out his Pokemon to do the fighting for him. Unlike the Pokemon games each of these three Pokemon share the same health meter! They do have a special Stamina stat that makes up for this.

The Pokemon trainer has a special ability that allows him to switch out the Pokemon during the battle but they switch out in a particular order; Squirtle -> Ivysaur -> Charizard -> Repeat! Because of this you need to be careful of how you use this character.

My opinion? I guess it looks pretty cool and all but i think i would much rather just use a single Pokemon such as…

Pikachu

Pikachu prepping Volt TackleNow that is a Pokemon! See the energy crackling around Pikachu? It comes from the attack Pikachu is prepping; Volt Tackle!

Pikachu has been around for a while and there are many players who just love playing as the shocking yellow mouse Pokemon. Let’s face, who is the face of Pokemon? Pikachu is!

Don’t worry too much about Pikachu though because I have been hearing rumors of other Pokemon that will be appearing in the game. Pokemon from the Sinnoh region per chance? Who might they be? How do you get them?

PokeBalls

There is an item in the game called a PokeBall. If you throw it you never know who you might get out of it.

After you throw it and the PokeBall opens up a random Pokemon pops out and attacks everything in its path!

Piplup

Piplup using SurfOh man, is that who I think it is? Yes! It is Piplup, the Water starter from the Sinnoh region and Dawn’s Pokemon from the TV show.

What is that crazy Water Pokemon doing? Why using Surf of course!

Piplup is able to use surf to surf around the battlefield. Watch out for Piplup because he can Surf you right off of the battle field.

I have not heard anything about the other Sinnoh starts yet but I do know of a few more Pokemon that can appear from a PokeBall.

Munchlax

Hungry, Hungry MunchlaxOh no it’s the hungry, hungry Munchlax!

Unlike the other Pokemon that you can get from the PokeBall Munchlax does not attack the other characters in play. Munchlax is far too single-minded to engage other characters in battle.

What does Munchlax do? If you could not guess I’ll tell you. This gluttonous Pokemon wanders the battle field looking for items to eat! When Munchlax is on the field you better grab those items fast before he eats them all up, yum!

Groudon

Hot, Hot GroudonOMG, it’s one of the largest Pokemon around! The legendary Pokemon Groudon from the Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald games for the GBA!

So, what does Groudon do? Well he’s hot. I mean REAL HOT!

See how everyone is sort of bouncing off of him on with their butts on fire? Touching the big guy causes almost every player on the field damage. Almost every player, the person who called him is not burned by the awesome power of Groudon!

Otherwise he just sits still. No word on Kyogre but there is one other legendary…

Deoxsys

Deoxsys uses Hyper BeamI do not know if you can see it very well but that is Deoxsys, the DNA Pokemon.

What does Deoxsys do? Well he sort of flys up high. Turns around a bit…

Then he unleashes a Hyper Beam on the battle field!

Watch out for that super powerful attack because if you get hit by that it is going to hurt!

So, what do you folks think about the upcoming release of Super Smash Brothers Brawl for the Wii? Post some comments below or start a thread in our forum!!!

Pokemon Farming: Tyrogue

September 22, 2007 | 70 Comments

Hey Everyone!

I’m here today to offer up a pokemon that is unlike any other pokemon in existance!

Tyrogue!

Tyrogue is a pokemon that is the only fighti… whats that? It’s not the only fighting type pokemon? Oh…right. It wasn’t even the first.

Well in that case, Tyrogue is the only pokemon to have three different evolutio…WHAT?! Ok, so Eevee beats this one out by just a few in that category as well.

I happen to know for a fact that Tyrogue is absolutely the only Pokemon to look real cute and still be able to kick butt! Oh…BryGuy beat me to that Yesterday, didn’t he?

Well, Tyrogue may not be the MOST unique pokemon in the lot, but it is really cool and evolves based on its stats when it hits level 20. Depending on its attack/defense stats it will evolve into Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, or Hitmontop. I’ll leave you to find out the details if you don’t already know.

I have named my Tyrogues by taking away their names, and giving them all numbers. These are all numbered in the order they were hatched by roman numerals. I hope you enjoy them as I had a unique time farming them!

Here are the rules this time around:

  • Leave a comment with your trainer name and friend code. I’ve had to dump most of my pal pad, so more than likely I will need your info again.
  • Have Fun!
  • Have something to trade. I will take anything, but I’m still filling my ‘dex so I prefer non-Sinnoh Pokemon. Also, they don’t need to be holding anything, but I will always take any item you might have to offer, especially evolution stones.
  • Be in the Wifi Union Room by 6:00 pm Eastern/5:00 pm Central time on September 22nd, 2007
  • Be waiting in Trade Mode (Invite -> Trade). I will come to you when I’m ready.
  • My information is as follows:
    • Trainer name – Whit
    • Friend Code – 3136-3364-7333.

Can’t wait to see you all there!

Friday’s Pokemon Farmer’s Market: Miltank

September 20, 2007 | 66 Comments

241 MiltankGreetings, Everyone!

Welcome to the Friday Farmer’s Market featuring the normal-type Pokemon, Miltank. My handle here is BryGuy. Tonight I will be offering outrageous Miltanks. These Miltanks might be cute and pink, but they also will be able to kick some serious butt! Miltanks have fairly decent stats in HP, Attack, and Defense and they are pretty darn Speedy! Unlike other pokemon that can take hits real well (e.g. Blissey), Miltank can also dish it out. With a decent attack stat and the ability to learn some good moves (e.g. body slam and others), Miltank can do some real damage. My baby Miltanks will have the following smorgasbord moveset:

  • FOCUS PUNCH
  • PUNISHMENT
  • HAMMER ARM
  • ICE BEAM

I bred these moves to Miltank because they will learn none of these on their own through leveling-up. This way you can keep the moves you really want and replace the others with moves that Miltank will learn naturally. Miltank will grow to learn some very decent and important moves. Many trainers like to make use of Miltank’s “Heal Bell” move to cure all status problems in their party or Miltank’s “Milk Drink” move to restore HP to Miltank or to other members of the party. Outfit this Miltank with “Shockwave” or some other similar status-inducing move and you have a deadly weapon! Paralyze an opponent and then clobber them with “Focus Punch” for a base power of 120! You can make this cow into a pretty nasty and durable “tank”!

All of the Miltanks I am offering tonight will have a “Bashful” nature. This is a neutral nature that does not favor the increased growth of one stat at the expense of another stat. (A small number may have another nature, but all are neutral.) Because these are Miltanks, all bred offspring are female. This makes breeding them a little tricky and, unfortunately, you can’t use Miltanks to pass moves on to other pokemon.

These Miltanks are 100% game-legal. They were not hacked in any way. The moveset was obtained through normal breeding and careful study!

!!! All of tonight’s Miltanks are named after exotic cheeses! !!!

UPDATE: Please be aware that severe storms are predicted for the Green Bay, Wisconsin area where I live right about the time the Farmer’s Market is to take place. I have never had trouble with my WiFi connection before, but then again, I have never tried trading in the middle of high winds and lightning! I will do what I can to make connections with all of you. If I have problems, I may shut down the voice-chat to insure better connections.

Here are the rules and procedures for tonight’s Farmer’s Market:

  • Enter my trainer name and friend code into your pal pad. My trainer name is BryGuy and my friend code is 3737 6015 6762.
  • Have a Pokemon ready in your party to trade to me. Today I will accept anything, but I like to be surprised! Feel free to trade me something you think is cool or unique. It is especially nice if the Pokemon is holding something (berries, items, etc.)!
  • Post a comment to this article saying that you would like a Miltank. MAKE SURE YOU CLEARLY AND ACCURATELY LIST YOUR TRAINER NAME FROM YOUR GAME AND YOUR FRIEND CODE. EVEN IF WE HAVE TRADED BEFORE, PLEASE LIST THIS INFORMATION. I had to clear my Pal Pad a few times so most of my previously entered “Pals” have been removed. I will enter as many of friend codes before the Farmer’s Market as I can.
  • In your game, enter the WiFi Club at 7:00 pm eastern time (6:00 pm central time) on Friday, September 21, 2007.
  • When you enter the Wi-Fi Club make yourself available to trade by selecting “INVITE” -> “TRADE” and wait for me to select you.
  • Please be patient. I may have to leave the WiFi Club sometimes to get more Miltanks. Please don’t panic, I’ll return promptly!
  • The Farmer’s Market will run from 7:00 to 8:00 pm EDT.
  • I am only prepared to trade specially prepared Miltanks. Please do not ask for other Pokemon. I will not be trading anything other than Miltanks tonight. Thanks.

I am looking forward to trading. See you at the Farmer’s Market!

Pokemon Farming: Natu

September 20, 2007 | 39 Comments

Today in Pokemon Farming: Natu!dpmfa177.png

This tiny bird Pokemon is psychic/flying type from the Gold and Silver generation. A post in our forums about bird Pokemon got me thinking about this Natu and next thing you know I’m breeding it! Xatu, his evolution, has the ability to learn HM Fly, has always been a favorite ‘utility’ of mine. You could use him to zip around the map, and then to do some serious psychic damage in a battle!

Unfortunately, Natu can’t learn Fly until he evolves in Xatu at Lv. 25. Nevertheless, I whipped up some Natu’s with some pretty nice moves to make him ready for the fight!

He comes equipped with:
Psychic (the essential psychic power move, STAB)
Shadow Ball (dark type)
Roost (restores HP, very handy)
Drill Peck (STAB)

They will have either the Synchronize ability (If it becomes poisoned, burned, or paralyzed, so will its opponent) or Early Bird ability (It will wake up from sleep in a half the time).

I recommend leveling up the little birdie and evolving him, to teach him Fly, and give him a try in your team! But you can do whatever you like with him, because he will be yours. Just follow these simple rules:

  • Comment with your Name and Friend Code
    • Even if we have traded before, I need your information again!
  • Get a Pokemon to trade (preferably non-Sinnoh, though I will take anything, items are always appreciated. I am looking for a water stone, if anyone has one, as always it is not required!)
  • Be in the Wi-Fi zone at 7pm EDT on September 20 (Thursday)
  • Make yourself available to Trade (Invite–>Trade) I will come to you when I’m ready.
  • Only Natu today, I’m not offering anything else, sorry!

See everyone tonight!

Suprise farming event!

September 19, 2007 | 35 Comments

It’s time for a super special surprise trade session!

The next 6 people who comment, in order of their comments, will get their pick from ONE of these 5 shiny Pokemon!

dpmfsa133.png1 of 2 Eevees Lv.5 Modest Untouched
dpmfsa258.png1 Mudkip Lv.5 Relaxed Untouched
dpmfsa239.png1 Elekid Lv.10 Hardy Untouched
dpmfsa374.png1 Beldum Lv.5 Lax Untouched
dpmfsa328.png1 Trapinch Lv.1 Rash Untouched (I hatched it myself!)

They are all males.

After 6 requests, comments will be turned off, and there will be no other requests accepted!

I did receive all but the Trapinch in trades, and as far as I can tell they are all legal, no special moves or weird catch locations, all legit! They are, however, GTS clones, and if you don’t agree with that sort of thing, sorry.

Why am I giving them away? Because I can! Just think of this as super special ultra-rare farming.

I need nothing in return! Just comment, leave your trader info, and if you make it in time, take your pick in order that you commented, we’ll set up a time to meet on WiFi, it’s that simple!

No Longer taking requests!

Note: If you miss a farming event just visit the Missed Farming Eventsarea of the forum and look around.
