Pokemon Farming: Phione

August 7, 2007 | 138 Comments

PhioneContinuing with baby Pokemon week, I present you the baby of a legendary, Phione!

Ah, Phione, the complicated result of breeding the legendary Manaphy. You can get the pretty awesome Manaphy from a Pokemon Ranger game, and thats the only place you’ll get it. Put your Manaphy egg in the Daycare with a Ditto and you get Phione. But, Phione will never, ever evolve back into Manaphy. And poor Phione has much lower stats and does not learn some moves its parent learns, like Heart Swap and Tail Glow. Regardless, it is still very usable, just not a powerful as its parent.

To get a Phione, there is no other way to get it if you don’t have Manaphy than trading. Don’t have a Manaphy? Have one, but you don’t want send it to daycare? Good, because tonight I’m handing out Phiones for all to enjoy and fill up their Pokedexs!

Tonights crop is all named after Cheeses! It seemed appropriate. Want one?

Pokemon Farming: Bonsly

August 6, 2007 | 41 Comments

BonslySudowoodoWelcome to PokeFarm!

To celebrate the move from HMTK to PokeFarm we are running a very special week devoted to Baby Pokemon!

To start us out I will be offering the Rock type Pokemon Bonsly. This new Pokemon is Rare in Diamond but common in Pearl. To breed this Pokemon you must have a Sudowoodo holding Rock Incense. Lucky for all of you I just happen to have that item!

Bonsly first appeared in the GameCube game Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness. You had to coax the Bonsly out of an area and if you startled him you had to start all over again! Later you had to find him at a battle spot. Once you caught him his owner would show up and take him back.

Bonsly will evolve into Sudowoodo once Bonsly learns the move Mimic. This move is learned at level 17. What this also means is that if you choose not to learn Mimic at level 17 your Bonsly will never evolve out of its baby stage.

Bonsly can be hatched with one of two abilities:

  • Rock Head - Bonsly receives no recoil damage.
  • Sturdy - One hit KO moves will not work.

The Bonsly I have hatched may have either one of those abilities and they have the following move set:

  • Copycat (Normal) - Copies opponents last move.
  • Rollout (Rock) - A five turn attack that gets more powerful over time.
  • Selfdestruct (Normal) - Inflicts severe damage and knocks Bonsly out.
  • Rock Throw (Rock) - Throw small rocks.

Rules
1. I don’t care what you trade me though I would prefer a non-Sinnoh Pokemon.
2. The Pokemon you trade to me must be holding something.
3. I prefer berries over all other items.
4. The only exception to berries are the two items that Magby/Elekid hold when caught in the wild.
5. For berries I need: 60+.
6. When you leave your information in the comments below your trainer name must be correct. When I do the trading I refer to the comments on the site to see who gets what.
7. When you enter the Wi-Fi zone select the trade option and wait for me to select you.
8. If you can, be early. I am sometimes on early.
9. Don’t be afraid to trade amongst yourselves.

    Instructions

  • Have something to trade to me

Looking for European Farmers

August 3, 2007 | 2 Comments

Now that the new Pokemon games have been released in Europe we at the PokeFarm are finding an increasing number of European visitors seeking Pokemon from our farming events. One problem we are running into is the time difference.

Because we do not expect you to want to stay up until midnight (or later) to make Pokemon trades we are looking for a few new farmers from across the pond who would like to do some farming earlier in the day.

If you are interested you can send an email to Steve over at our previous home site HMTK and let him know what country you are in and what the time zone is in regards to GMT.

Pokemon Farming: Skarmory

August 3, 2007 | 68 Comments

SkarmoryAnd the Johto week ends with a bang! Well, more like a swoosh.

Skarmory has the distinct advantage of being quite a nice competitive tool. His defense stat is quite impressive, though he’s a bit of an offensive letdown. Luckily there are a couple moves that help to overcome this hindrance.

Spikes is a great move that enables you to do some damage that wouldn’t otherwise be done, counterable only by a rapid spinner, spikes deals damage to opponents that switch out. This, coupled with a very nice healing move make Skarmory the tough half of the ‘Skarmbliss’ pair.

Here are the moves your Skarmory will come with.

  • Spikes (explained above)
  • Aerial Ace (STAB, Never Miss)
  • Roost (HEAL HEAL HEAL)
  • Brave Bird (STAB - 120 Power)

This should provide a great tank for several pesky pokes! I hope you have enjoyed Johto Week as much as we’ve enjoyed working on it!

Here are the instructions for tonight:

  • Leave a comment with your trainer name and friend code. I’ve had to clear out my pal pad a bit, so I will need your codes!
  • Be in the Wifi room by 8:00 EDT (7:00 CDT) on Friday, Aug. 3, and be in Trade Mode (Invite -> Trade). I will come to you when I’m ready.
  • Have something to trade. I’ll take anything, but I’m still trying to fill my ‘dex, so I prefer any non-Sinnoh Pokemon that you may have.
  • It doesn’t need to be holding anything, but items are always appreciated, including berries.
  • Don’t be afraid to trade amongst yourselves!

Pokemon Farmer’s Market: Cyndaquil

August 2, 2007 | 155 Comments

CyndaquilGreetings, Everyone!

Welcome to Thursday of “Johto Week”! My handle here is BryGuy and I will be heading this evening’s Pokemon Farmer’s Market featuring one of the starters from the Gold, Silver and Crystal games: Cyndaquil.

After brooding over a series of possible, crazy, twisted move sets, I could not bring myself to actually breed any of them into the baby Cyndaquils. I wanted these little pokes to be able to grow up big and strong and maybe take one of the six spaces on someone’s team.

Cyndaquil and Cyndaquil’s ultimate evolution, Typhosion, has low defense and low special defense stats. Its attack stats are pretty anemic as well. This guy has strong speed and strong special attack, it likes FIRE and it has the ability “Blaze” which amps up the fire type moves when HP is low. So I decided to do the only humane thing for these little Cyndies: Go Fire! And I mean, BIG FIRE!!! My baby Cyndies will have the following blazing moveset:
Cyndaquil Moves

  • ERUPTION
  • FLAMETHROWER
  • FLARE BLITZ
  • DOUBLE-EDGE (in case you need something different: a big normal type attack)

Pretty nice moves for a little, level 1 fire-mouse (or whatever it is?!)! As Cyndaquil grows and evolves you may decide to replace some of these moves with something else, but I thought these Cyndaquil should start with a fighting chance!

These Cyndaquil are 100% game-legal. They were not hacked in any way. The move set was obtained through normal breeding and careful study!

Please feel free to turn up the loudness on your game so we can talk back and forth during the trade, making selection easier. By the way, you don’t need a headset to talk. Your DS built-in microphone will do the trick. If you would rather not talk and select a Cyndaquil, I will pick one for you.

Here are the rules and procedures for tonight’s Farmer’s Market:

  1. Enter my trainer name and friend code into your pal pad. My trainer name is BryGuy and my friend code is 3737 6015 6762.
  2. Have a Pokemon ready in your party to trade to me. Today I will accept anything but I like to be surprised! Feel free to trade me something you think is cool or unique. It is especially nice if the Pokemon is holding something (berries, items, etc.)!
  3. Post a comment to this article saying that you would like a Cyndaquil. MAKE SURE YOU CLEARLY AND ACCURATELY LIST YOUR TRAINER NAME FROM YOUR GAME AND YOUR FRIEND CODE. EVEN IF WE HAVE TRADED BEFORE, PLEASE LIST THIS INFORMATION. I can’t guarantee that you are still in my Pal Pad. I will enter as many of these before the Farmer’s Market as I can.
  4. In your game, enter the WiFi Club at 7:00 pm eastern time (6:00 pm central time) on Thursday, August 2, 2007.
  5. When you enter the Wi-Fi zone select the trade option (INVITE -> TRADE) and wait for me to select you.
  6. If you can, be early. I may be online early.
  7. Please be patient. I should have plenty of Cyndaquil. I may have to leave the WiFi Club sometimes to get more Cyndaquil. Please don’t panic, I’ll return promptly!
  8. The Farmer’s Market will run from 7:00 to 8:00 pm EDT.
  9. I am only prepared to trade specially prepared Cyndaquil. Please do not ask for other Pokemon. I will not be trading anything other than Cyndaquil tonight. Thanks.

I am looking forward to trading. See you at the Farmer’s Market!

Pokemon Farming: Chikorita

August 1, 2007 | 176 Comments

ChikoritaContinuing with our Week-O-Johto, today we’re offering the Grass Starter, Chikorita!

My first experience with this happy little grassy dinosaur-thing wasn’t until Diamond and Pearl, but once I got my hands on one, this leafy wonder quickly became one of my all-time favorite grass-types.

It’s stats are average but once it evolves, first into Bayleef at level 16 and then into Meganium at 32, it quickly becomes quite the powerful, um, whatever it is. Add to that it’s ability to learn Solarbeam on it’s own and the ability to be taught Sunny Day and you have a very powerful Grass-type that can take on even the toughest of opponents!

It never gains any extra type so you’ll always have to worry about Fire types and a couple others, but that’s a small price to pay for, in my opinion, one of the better Grass starters around.

Normally, as Tater described yesterday, the only way to get this little dino-weed is to play through Emerald and get it after beating the Elite 4 (or earn it in Pokemon XD for the Gamecube). However, today I will be cutting out the middle-man and delivering this one directly into your grubby little mitts. And here is all you need to do:

All you need to do:

  • Leave a comment with your trainer name and friend code. I’ve had to clear out my pal pad a bit, so I will need your codes!
  • Be in the Wifi room by 8:00 EDT (7:00 CDT) on Wednesday, Aug. 1, and be in Trade Mode (Invite -> Trade).
I’m still trying to collect all the berries and I still need #’s 31, 48, 53, 59 - 64.
  • Don’t be afraid to trade amongst yourselves!

My trainer name is Bott and my friend code is 2320 2629 3165. I look forward to seeing all of you at the Market!
