Special Pokemon Farmer’s Market: Second Harvest
August 31, 2007 | 87 Comments

Greetings, Everyone!
Welcome to an extra special edition of the Friday Farmer’s Market: Second Harvest. My handle here is BryGuy. Tonight’s Farmer’s Market will be very different, so please be aware of the new conditions. Over the past number of weeks I have been offering pokemon with special movesets. Many people have been asking me for more of these pokes for various reasons. Tonight, I am going to clear out my boxes of any leftover pokemon from these events. The pokemon offered tonight are as follows:
- Houndour (about 4 individuals)
- Elekid (about 6 individuals)
- Cyndaquil (about 10 individuals)
- Swinub (about 9 individuals)
These are the same little guys I offered at previous Farmer’s Market Events. They all have amazing movesets, they are all 100% game-legal, and they were all bred by me using normal methods and loving care! Check my previous Farmer’s Market posts to see all the details about these awesome pokemon. Please be careful to follow the special procedures indicated below.
Here are the rules and procedures for tonight’s Second Harvest Farmer’s Market:
- Enter my trainer name and friend code into your pal pad. My trainer name is BryGuy and my friend code is 3737 6015 6762.
- Have a Pokemon ready in your party to trade to me. Today I will accept anything, but I like to be surprised! Feel free to trade me something you think is cool or unique. It is especially nice if the Pokemon is holding something (berries, items, etc.)!
- Post a comment to this article saying which ONE of these pokemon you would like. I will issue them on a first-post, first present, basis. If you are not ready in the WiFi Club when I come to trade with you, I will move to the next person on my list. You may need to accept the pokemon offered to you. There will probably not be much choice in terms of male or female, etc.
- In your post requesting a pokemon, MAKE SURE YOU CLEARLY AND ACCURATELY LIST YOUR TRAINER NAME FROM YOUR GAME AND YOUR FRIEND CODE. EVEN IF WE HAVE TRADED BEFORE, PLEASE LIST THIS INFORMATION. I had to clear my Pal Pad a few times so most of my previously entered “Pals” have been removed. I will enter as many of friend codes before the Farmer’s Market as I can.
- In your game, enter the WiFi Club at 7:30 pm eastern time (6:30 pm central time) on Friday, August 31, 2007. Please note this new time for tonight!
- When you enter the Wi-Fi zone select the trade option (INVITE -> TRADE) and wait for me to select you.
- I will not be on early tonight.
- Please be patient. I may have to leave the WiFi Club sometimes to get more pokemon. Please don’t panic, I’ll return promptly!
- The Farmer’s Market will run from 7:30 to 8:30 pm EDT.
- I am only prepared to trade the pokemon listed above. Please do not ask for other Pokemon. I will not be trading anything other than what I have listed tonight. Thanks.
I am looking forward to trading. See you at the Farmer’s Market!

Pokemon Farming: Rhyhorn
August 29, 2007 | 94 Comments
For today’s Farmer’s Market I’ve decided to do the powerful Rock/Ground type, Rhyhorn. This incredibly strong beast first showed up in the original Red and Blue with his only evolution of the time, Rhydon. Both forms have astounding Attack and Defense stats, though the Special Attack and Special Defense stats leave a little to be desired. With the latest generation, a new evolution has been added, Rhyperior, boasting even higher Attack and Defense stats! Going through the evolutions is a chore, but it’s worth it. Rhyhorn doesn’t evolve into Rhydon until level 42, and you can’t get Rhyperior unless you do a Trade Evolution with Rhydon while it’s holding the rare item, Protector.
The move sets for these guys is pretty amazing, with quite a few powerful Physical attacks, not to mention the one-hit KO move Horn Drill, and the strong Bug-type move Megahorn. With Rhyperior, you can learn one more move than Rhydon, the powerful two-turn Rock-type move Rock Wrecker, with an attack of 150!
It takes a little while for Rhyhorn to start learning some of the better moves, so I’ve helped it out a little bit. Taking a cue from my fellow Farmer BruGuy, I’ve bred these guys with a special moveset: Fire Fang, Ice Fang, Thunder Fang and Crunch! These are completely legit, non-hacked; I’ve bred them all myself!
You can get one of these toothy Rhyhorns for yourself, and this is all you have to do:
- Leave a comment below with your Trainer Name and Friend Code. I’ve had to dump my Pal Pad several times now so I’m probably going to need your information again. Also, please make sure your information is correct! I’ve had a few problems lately with people leaving incorrect information, which I am therefore unable to enter into my Pal Pad: the Pal Pad will not accept incorrect information.
- Have something to trade. I will take anything at all, but I do prefer non-Sinnoh Pokemon. Also, items are not necessary but they are appreciated. I could really use a couple Moon Stones, and I’m still missing a couple berries: berry #’s 53, 59, 61 and 62.
- Be in the Wifi Room by 8:00 Eastern/7:00 Central on Wednesday, August 29, 2007, and be in Trade Mode (Invite -> Trade). I will come to you when I am ready.
- My information is - Trainer name: Bott, Friend Code: 2320 2629 3165.
I will see you tonight!
Note: If you miss a farming event just visit the Missed Farming Eventsarea of the forum and look around.
Berry Farming: The EV Berries
August 27, 2007 | 8 Comments
Today I’m going to tell you about a special group of berries you can farm in Pokemon that helps you train your Pokemon. These berries, when given to a Pokemon, raises their happiness and lowers one of their ability scores by the same amount as a vitamin would raise them. You can think of them as anti-vitamins.
These berries are as follows:
Pomeg Berry - Lowers Base HP.
Kelpsey Berry - Lowers Base Attack.
Qualot Berry - Lowers Base Defense.
Hondew Berry - Lowers Base Special Attack.
Grepa Berry - Lowers Base Special Defense.
Tamato Berry - Lowers Base Speed.
All of these berries have a smoothness of 20 and the plants should mature in about Eight hours. If you have not already done so I highly suggest you read our article on berry farming. If you follow those instructions you should be able to farm bumper crops of 10 - 20 berries at a time!
So, why would you use these berries? Whenever a Pokemon battles another Pokemon and gains EXP from the battle they also gain EV points. Gain enough of these points and your Pokemon will gain bonus points for their abilities when they gain a level. There is a limit to how many points they can gain and once you max them out there is a woman in Sunyshore City who will reward you with a ribbon when your Pokemon has full EV points.
The key to using these berries is to watch what kinds of Pokemon you are fighting and see how your Pokemon is advancing. Not fast enough? Pick a score that you consider to be worth lowering and feed him the proper berry. If your speed EV is below 90 you can feed him some Carbos (speed vitamin) and watch his speed rise.
These berries also come in very handy if someone trades you a good Pokemon with messed up EVs. They do need to be at a point where they can gain levels because once a Pokemon gains 100 EV points in an ability score they can no longer use vitamins to raise that score, they can only gain EV by battling.
It is true that EV training is a very long and grueling road. It was much easier to do in the world of Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald because of the secret base system. Oh yes, with several copies of each game you could create a secret base in each one with a certain set of Pokemon. I myself did that using Bug Pokemon and found great success.
We do a lot of trading here at PokeFarm. Next time you trade with someone why not include a berry? They are very easy to grow and no Pokemon should be sent away empty handed!
Pokemon Farming: Meowth
August 25, 2007 | 103 Comments
Greetings!
Welcome to another Saturday edition of Pokemon Farming!
I chose Meowth today for a couple reasons. First, it hasn’t been done yet. Those are getting harder and harder to come by, especially ones that are hard to get in Diamond and/or Pearl, or special in some way. Also, I’m trying to cook up a really nice moveset but at the time of this publishing, I’m not quite sure I’m gonna be able to pull it off. Meowth is also one of the elite pokes who has gotten a featured spot in the Anime show since its launch.
Meowth’s only evolution, Persian, has a very nice speed stat, so I’m trying to capitalize on that as much as possible with effective and sneaky moves. Again, we’ll see if I’m able to pull it off.
That’s all I really have to add about Meowth, I hope you all take up the chance at snagging one of these while they’re hot!
Here are today’s rules! (Note that this one is a tad later than the last one - experimenting with the times to see what gets the best response!)
- Leave a comment with your trainer name and friend code. I’ve had to dump most of my pal pad, so more than likely I will need your info again.
- Have something to trade. I will take anything, but I’m still filling my ‘dex so I prefer non-Sinnoh Pokemon. Also, they don’t need to be holding anything, but I will always take any item you might have to offer, especially evolution stones.
- Be in the Wifi Union Room by 5:00 pm Eastern/4:00 pm Central time on August 18, 2007, and be waiting in Trade Mode (Invite -> Trade). I will come to you when I’m ready.
- My information is as follows:
- Trainer name - Whit
- Friend Code - 3136-3364-7333.
- Feel free to check in early, I will be early if I am able.
Pokemon Farmer’s Market: Swinub
August 24, 2007 | 153 Comments

Greetings, Everyone!
Welcome to the Friday Farmer’s Market featuring ice/ground-type Pokemon, Swinub. My handle here is BryGuy. I have been gone on vacation for a couple weeks but I am back! I am determined to continue bringing you special, value-added Pokemon! Today I offer you little, baby Swinubs. These little buggers made their first appearance in the Gold/Silver/Crystal Pokemon games. In the present generation of Pokemon games, Swinub are only available in random, daily “swarms” of pokemon that appear after you have become the Pokemon League Champion. So in Diamond and Pearl, Swinubs are difficult to get. The Swinubs I offer you today are not your ordinary, “garden-variety” Swinubs. These little, furry piggies have a specially developed moveset that is designed to make them toughies from the start and to give the Swinubs moves they would not learn on their own. My baby Swinubs will have the following cool moveset:
- ANCIENT POWER

- EARTHQUAKE
- ICE BEAM
- BLIZZARD
Pretty nice moves for a little, level 1 furry pig-thing! As Swinub grows and evolves you may decide to replace some of these moves with something else, but I thought these Swinubs should start with some of the best moves they can learn! Swinubs won’t normally learn Ice Beam without the use of a TM. I bred a female Swinub with a male Dewgong that knew Ice Beam and I was able to pass the move on down to a male offspring. That offspring would later become the father for the Swinubs I am offering today. Swinubs also can’t learn Ancient Power by themselves. I took the father to the Move Tutor after he evolved into a Piloswine and the Move Tutor taught the Piloswine Ancient Power. This father then passed both Ice Beam and Ancient Power on down to his offspring.
Now here is a bit of important information you should know if you get one of these special Swinubs: After Swinub evolves into Piloswine at level 33 it will then evolve into Mamoswine. Mamoswine is new in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. It appears to be a cross between a giant mammoth and a pig!? Mamoswine makes up for some of the weaknesses of the Swinub/Piloswine stages. It has much stronger attack stats. But here’s an important piece of information: Piloswine will evolve into Mamoswine when it levels-up after learning Ancient Power. Since these guys already know Ancient Power they will evolve after the first level-up after becoming Piloswine. I mention this in case you do not want it to evolve right away (maybe you want it to learn a few moves at a lower level first). Be ready to press the “B” button if you want to stop the evolution and evolve him later.
Some other ideas to help with your new Swinubs: If you are fighting a long battle, be sure to use Ancient Power early in the fight. It is a “rock-type” attack with basic attack power of 60, but its secondary effect is that it can raise all of your Swinub/Piloswine/Mamoswine’s stats. This turns him into a really dangerous opponent! Also consider taking your Piloswine to the Move Tutor and having him teach Ice Fang to the Piloswine. Ice Fang is a physical attack and it aligns nicely with Mamoswines high attack stat as well as its Ice type. There was no way for me to breed this move into Swinub and none of these guys will learn it without a session with the Move Tutor.
These Swinub are 100% game-legal. They were not hacked in any way. The moveset was obtained through normal breeding and careful study!
One last note: Today’s Swinubs are all named with Inuit (Alaskan/Eskimo) names in honor of their Ice/Ground type. Enjoy!

Pokemon Farming: Heracross
August 23, 2007 | 83 Comments
For today’s Farmer’s Market, I will be offering one of the strongest little bugs around, Heracross
Heracross was first introduced back in Gold and Silver and right away made a name for itself by being one of the best bug-types around. This beetle is gifted with great typing (Bug/Fighting), great moves and high Attack and better than average Speed and Special Defense stats. However, it has also been on the rare side. Starting in Gold and Silver and continuing into FireRed and LeafGreen, it’s found in the Safari Zone and is usually one of the hardest ones to find. This time around, in Diamond and Pearl, it can be found by slathering Honey on the Honey Trees, and even then it doesn’t show up that often. The only Honey Tree Pokemon that is even harder to find than this one is Munchlax!
Normally I’m not a fan of Bug-types but from the beginning I’ve always really liked Heracross. I’ve always liked it’s superior Strength and the fact that it’s Fighting-type helps balance out some of its Bug-type weaknesses. In fact, in my game on Diamond, Heracross was part of the team that I brought to fight the Elite Four the first time around, and I must say it did a splendid job!
So, today I will be giving away this tough little guy for all who want one!
What you need to do:
- Leave a comment below with your Trainer name and info, and please make sure it is correct! I’ve had a problem with the past few farming events with people leaving incorrect info. If it’s not correct I can’t trade with you!
- Have something to trade. I will take anything, but I am still working on my ‘dex so I do prefer non-Sinnoh Pokemon. Also, it’s not necessary but it’d be appreciated if it is holding something. I could really use a few extra Moon Stones and Water Stones, and I still need Berry #’s 53, 59, and 61-64.
- Be in the Wifi Room by 8:00 EDT/7:00 CDT today, Thursday August 23rd. I may be a bit early so feel free to check in early.
- Be waiting in Trade Mode (Invite -> Trade). I will come to you when I am ready.
- Also, don’t be afraid to trade amongst yourselves!
My trainer name is Bott and my Friend Code is 2320 2629 3165. I’ll see you all tonight!
Pokemon Farming: Staryu
August 22, 2007 | 31 Comments
In honor of my recent trip to the shoreline…
The Pokemon Staryu has been around since the early days of Pokemon. It is a genderless Water Pokemon (need Ditto to breed) that evolves with the help of a Water Stone into the Water/Psychic Pokemon Starmie. Remember this though, with the exception of Water Gun at level 28 Starmie gains no new moves from leveling up. You can teach the Pokemon TM and HM moves but otherwise you want the move set in place before you evolve.
You can catch this Pokemon in Diamond and Pearl by going to Canalave City or Sunyshore City and Fishing with the Super Rod but why go through all that trouble when you can get one right here?
Staryu can be hatched with one of two abilities:
- Illuminate: When Staryu is in the first party slot, Wild Pokémon appearances are more frequent
- Natural Cure: Status Conditions are healed when withdrawn from Battle
Because Staryu is genderless you can not pass on cool egg moves. Sadly these Pokemon only have Tackle and Harden as moves.
Rules
1. I don’t care what you trade me though I would prefer a non-Sinnoh Pokemon.
2. The Pokemon you trade to me must be holding something.
3. I prefer berries over all other items.
4. The only exception to berries are the two items that Magby/Elekid hold when caught in the wild.
5. For berries I need: 60+.
6. When you leave your information in the comments below your trainer name must be correct. When I do the trading I refer to the comments on the site to see who gets what.
7. When you enter the Wi-Fi zone select the trade option and wait for me to select you.
8. If you can, be early. I am sometimes on early.
9. Don’t be afraid to trade amongst yourselves.
My information:
Trainer: Ezekial
Friend Code: 0559 3242 3898
- Instructions
- Have something to trade to me
- Be in the Wi-Fi zone by 7:00PM EDT (New York Time) on Wednesday August22, 2007
- Be ready
Pokemon Farming: Feebas
August 21, 2007 | 68 Comments

Tonight, Im handing out the Fish Pokemon, Feebas!
When this guy debuted in the RSE games, the method of obtaining him and evolving him was a unique one. It involved fishing the vast expanses of water on a certain route, checking each tile to see if you came across the special one containing Feebas (6 tiles out of some 400 had Feebas in them, I was lucky enough to find him my fourth try!) In D/P, you could find him in the same manner, in a lake in Mt Coronet with the Super Rod, but with only 4 tiles with Feebas in them, and then they change every day. He’s really really hard to find!
His uniqueness does not end there. Feebas itself is almost useless, it learns useless moves, but can learn a number of TMs unlike Magicarp. But like Magikarp, its evolution is so much more desirable. To get Feebas’s evolution you need to make him certain Poffins to max out his beauty and then level him up. These Poffins need to be made from Dry berries, like Wiki, Apicot, Pamtre, and Charti and make better values when you blend them with a friend! Shoot for Poffins 20+ of course the higher the number, the better! You can only feed him 12 Poffins, and thats it, if you didn’t max his beauty out by then, you never can! (I learned this the hard way!) Another thing that helps is you’re Feebas is for them to have certain nature, like Modest, Rash, Quiet, or Mild, that they prefer dry food.
Max his beauty, level him up, and you will have yourself the Lovely Milotic, a water type who is a formidable opponent, with a high Special Defense.
You’re in luck today, I’m handing out this very hard to find little bugger, to save you all from the hunt for it that would surely drive you insane! I will not hand out natures that ‘hate’ dry foods, I don’t want it to be any harder than it has to be!
Want an ugly fish?
- Comment with your Name and Friend Code
- Even if we have traded before, I need your information again!
- Get a Pokemon to trade (preferably non-sinnoh, though I will take anything, items are always appreciated. If anyone has a Stantler, I’d be more than happy to get it, it is not required though! Thanks!)
- Be in the Wi-Fi zone between 8pm EDT on August 21 (Tuesday)
- Make yourself available to Trade (Invite–>Trade) I will come to you when I’m ready.
My Information:
Trainer name: God
Friend Code:5369 6895 7194
Feebas, the classic ugly duckling story! See you all tonight!
Pokemon Farming: Eggs!?
August 18, 2007 | 87 Comments
G’day!
For this weekend’s farmer’s choice, I’ve chosen to keep things a secret for just a bit longer. I’ve decided that I will actually be breeding two different pokemon, but you won’t know which you’re getting until it hatches!
What could it be?!
Here are some hints -
- They are both electric type.
- They are NOT from Sinnoh naturally
- They each have an ability that is unique to them
Ok, that’s all the info you’re getting from me! I hope that doesn’t make it TOO easy to guess. Regardless, hopefully you’ll all have fun hatching the eggs and guessing which one you’ll be getting until that point. If you go back and read through this article there are clues which will tell you exactly what two Pokemon I’m breeding today, so I challenge you to scour it for the info!
Without further ado - Here are the rules!
- Be in the Wifi Union Room by 4:00 pm Eastern/3:00 pm Central time on August 18, 2007, and be waiting in Trade Mode (Invite -> Trade). I will come to you when I’m ready.
- My information is as follows:
- Trainer name - Whit
- Friend Code - 3136-3364-7333.
- Feel free to check in early, I will be early if I am able.
