Pokemon Farming: Eevee

Welcome to Farmers Favorites week! This week the farmers are going to be choosing one of their favorite pokemon and offering it to you under the normal farming guidelines. I’m not sure what the other farmers are going to be choosing, but I want to share my favorite pokemon with you today.

Espeon became my favorite pokemon from the second I received my first Eevee and battled the Eevee Sisters in Gold. I had always been drawn to the psychic pokemon for some reason, so it was a perfect fit! Plus, the challenge in evolving from Eevee to Espeon intrigued me as well. Since the evolution is a challenge, I don’t want you to miss out on that fun, soooo….

Thats right, I’m going to offer everyone’s favorite unstable mutatable oh em gee this thing has seven evolutions Pokemon! Eevee has been around since the beginning, and has always been just a little bit off. For those of you who aren’t aware, there are now seven different typed evolutions for Eevee. I’m going to run down them all for you right quick so you can understand the full complexity of the matter at hand.

  • First you have basic Eevee, Normal Type.
  • Second you have Jolteon evolved by way of the Thunderstone.
  • Next is Flareon, achieved after using the Firestone.
  • Lastly is Vaporeon using yet another stone, a Water stone.

…at least we all thought that was the end of it. Then the Jhoto region was made known to us through Gold/Silver/Crystal games and that introduced two new evolutions, as well as new ways to get there. Happiness and time of Day!

Espeon was gained through making Eevee super happy and level during the day, while making Eevee happy and leveling during the night nets you Umbreon.

And there you have it, the evolutions of Eevee! What? No, thats it, surely a Pokemon can’t have more than five evolutions! Oh wait, I already told you we’ve got seven to go through, didn’t I? So much for a little bit of bait and switch.

After Hoenn completely left us hanging without any new Eevee evolutions, D/P offered another unique way to evolve our bipolar fuzz-ball. Location, location, location.

Leafeon is obtainable after getting Eevee a level near the mossy rock in Sinnoh.

And last, but not least is Glaceon, this time gain a level near the icy rock.

There, NOW you have it, the idiot’s guide to Eevee evolutions. Nintendo has really gone all out with unique ways to evolve pokes, and Eevee takes advantage of just about all of them. No matter what your type preference, chances are there is an Eevee evolution, or ‘Eeveelution’ to fit your tastes, and that’s why i’m offering it up for you today.

I happened to get a hold of one that had some interesting egg moves, so that’s what I’ll be giving out. Here is the beginning move-set on these guys.

  • Yawn
  • Curse
  • Covet
  • Wish

The most useful of these is most likely Covet for stealing those rare items from wild Pokemon without filling up your boxes.

Without further ado, here are my rules:

Rules
1. I don’t care what you trade me though I would prefer a non-Sinnoh Pokemon.
2. The Pokemon you trade to me must be holding something.
3. When you leave your information in the comments below your trainer name must be correct. When I do the trading I refer to the comments on the site to see who gets what.
4. When you enter the Wi-Fi zone select the trade option and wait for me to select you.
5. If you can, be early. I am sometimes on early.
6. Don’t be afraid to trade amongst yourselves.

Pokemon Farming: Bagon

July 13, 2007 | 73 Comments

BagonI hope everyone has enjoyed our Dragon Week! Today we’ll be ending it with a bang by offering up the popular Dragon-type, Bagon. To be honest, my first exposure to Bagon was with the newest generation of games (I never had Ruby or Sapphire), but once I had him I realized that I’d been missing out! With great base Attack and Defense stats and a wide variety of move types (not to mention the ability to naturally learn the HM Fly once it evolves into Salamence) makes this one an awesome addition to my, and anybody’s, team.

The Bagon that I’m offering today comes with the moves Rage, Fire Fang, Flamethrower and Dragon Claw.

And, for the low, low price of a simple trade, this great Dragon can be yours!

What you need to do:

  • Have something to trade (I prefer non-Sinnoh Pokemon, but I will take anything)
  • If possible (but not necessary) have it holding a berry. I’m trying to collect all the berries, and I’m missing #s 31, 34, 35, 48, 53, 55, 58+. Any help is appreciated but not required. I’ll be giving away berries as a bonus.
  • Leave a comment below with your trainer name and friend code. Please make sure it’s correct.
  • Be in the Wifi Room by 7:00 Eastern/6:00 Central time. If you can, come early, I may be on early myself.
  • Be waiting in Trade Mode (Invite -> Trade), that way I can select you when I’m ready.

Pokemon Farming: Trapinch

July 12, 2007 | 33 Comments

TrapinchGreetings, everyone!

Welcome to Thursday of “Dragon Week”! My handle here is BryGuy and I will be heading this evening’s Pokemon Farmer’s Market featuring Trapinch. As many of you probably know, Trapinch is that little, orangish, chompy dude that you would always find in a desert somewhere. Trapinch is rare in the Pearl and Diamond games and you must be using the Pokeradar. They are only available after you defeat the Elite Four. Yes, Trapinch is only a Ground type, but it will evolve into Vibrava and Flygon, which are both Dragon/Ground types. I suggest that you carefully consult a pokedex before you train and evolve Trapinch. There are many options to consider. Evolve it too quickly and it will miss the chance to learn some devastating moves. Also, Trapinch can be amazingly handy in his basic, unevolved state. Trapinch’s abilities are Hyper Cutter or Arena Trap. Yes, indeed, Arena Trap! Little Trapinch can hold an opponent, preventing it from escaping, while it beats it up with its nasty moves!

I have bred a fine batch of Trapinches and I am looking forward to sharing them with all of you! The Trapinches I have bred for this occasion have different sets of learned egg-moves (these are moves that the Pokemon can not learn through leveling-up). When we trade, feel free to look over the Trapinches I have available and choose the one you would like. Please feel free to turn up the loudness on your game so we can talk back and forth during the trade, making selection easier. By the way, you don’t need a headset to talk. Your DS built-in microphone will do the trick. If you would rather not talk and select a Trapinch, I will pick one for you.

Here are the rules and procedures for tonight’s Farmer’s Market:

  1. Enter my trainer name and friend code into your pal pad. My trainer name is BryGuy and my friend code is 3737 6015 6762.
  2. Have a Pokemon ready in your party to trade to me. Today I will accept anything but I like to be surprised! Feel free to trade me something you think is cool or unique. It is especially nice if the Pokemon is holding something (berries, items, etc.)!
  3. Post a comment to this article saying that you would like a Trapinch. Make sure you clearly and accurately list your trainer name from your game and your friend code. I will enter as many of these before the Farmer’s Market as I can.
  4. In your game, enter the WiFi Club at 7:00 pm eastern time (6:00 pm central time) on Thursday, July 12, 2007.
  5. When you enter the Wi-Fi zone select the trade option (INVITE -> TRADE) and wait for me to select you.
  6. If you can, be early. I may be online early.
  7. Please be patient. This is only my second time heading a Farmer’s Market. I should have plenty of Trapinches. I may have to leave the WiFi Club sometimes to get more Trapinches. Please don’t panic, I’ll return promptly!
  8. The Farmer’s Market will run from 7:00 to 8:00 pm EDT.
  9. I am only prepared to trade specially prepared Trapinches. Please do not ask for other Pokemon. I will not be trading anything other than Trapinches tonight. Thanks.

I am looking forward to trading. See you at the Farmer’s Market!

Pokemon Farming: Gible

July 11, 2007 | 34 Comments

Gible

Well, I hope you’re all enjoying Dragon Week! As our first theme week, I don’t think there would be any more appropriate. These guys are probably the most popular type overall. Nintendo likes to make sure they’re also a bit harder to get than your garden variety pokes as well, so we bring them to you in this format to make life just a little bit easier.

Gible has the distinction of being the newest addition to the dragon crew. If you’re looking for a competitive battler, Garchomp, this guy’s final evolution, is among the best. Three stats over 100 base! Not to mention his typing helps overcome some weaknesses previous dragons suffer from. All of that coupled with the Same Type Attack Bonus for Earthquake make this guy a monster!

I will be offering this guy up tonight for my farming session, and here are the details:

What you need to do:

  • Have something to trade me. (It doesn’t matter what non-Sinnoh is preferable but definitely not required)
  • Make sure your pokemon is holding something, it doesn’t really matter what.
  • Comment below with your Trainer Name and Friend Code
  • Show up Tonight at 7:00 EST in the WiFi Union Room
  • Be Ready (Invite -> Trade) That will put you in ‘Trade Mode’ so that I can get ahold of you when I’m ready.

My Info:

  • Trainer Name: Whit
  • Friend Code: 3136 3364 7333

Pokemon Farming: Dratini

July 10, 2007 | 46 Comments

Today we bring you the next in line for our Dragon-type theme week, Dratini!
Dratini

Dratini is the first in a line of evolutions that brings on Dragonite, one of the most powerful non-legendary Pokemon you can get. It can be hard to find in the game and takes a great deal of time to level it up to its final form, but many would argue that it’s worth it. And it’s cute to boot!

So if you want one of these baby beasts, I’ll be giving them out today!

My Information:
Trainer name: God

Friend Code:5369 6895 7194

    Instructions

  • Comment with your Name and Friend Code
  • Get something (preferably non-sinnoh, though I will take anything)
  • Be in the Wi-Fi zone by 7:00PM EDT (July 10)
  • Make yourself available to Trade (Invite–>Trade) I will come to you when I’m ready.

I will most likely be there early, to make sure myWifi is working (My last farming day didn’t go so well), so feel free to visit early!

Pokemon Farming: Swablu

July 9, 2007 | 29 Comments

SwabluWelcome to the first Pokemon we are farming for Dragon week. You will notice that this Pokemon, Swablu, begins life as a Normal/Flying Pokemon before evolving into Altaria, a Dragon/Flying type Pokemon.

Not a very spectacular Pokemon among Dragon Pokemon but Swablu/Altaria is one of the few Dragon types that exist in the game. Swablu/Altaria is also special in that it is only a two-stage Dragon Pokemon. The other two Dragon type Pokemon that you can breed from Ruby and Sapphire are Bagon/Shelgon/Salamence (Dragon/Flying) and Trapinch/Vibrava/Flygon (Ground/Dragon).

Another leg up that Swablu has over these other two Dragon type Pokemon is that it evolves at level 35. Flygon evolves at level 45 and Salamence at level 50. Clearly Swablu is your quickest entry into the world of Dragon Pokemon.

An interesting question for many Dragon trainers, in regards to Swablu, is when to evolve him. If you evolve him at level 35 you get the move Dragonbreath. If you hold out until level 36 you can get Mirror Move. That is the only tough decision that you will have to make as the rest of the moves will eventually be learned by Altaria.

All of these Swablu come with the following moves: Peck, Growl, Astonish and Sing.

Rules
1. I don’t care what you trade me though I would prefer a non-Sinnoh Pokemon.
2. The Pokemon you trade to me must be holding something.
3. I prefer berries over all other items.
4. The only exception to berries are the two items that Magby/Elekid hold when caught in the wild.
5. For berries I need: 37, 39, 47-49, 60 – 62, 64+.
6. When you leave your information in the comments below your trainer name must be correct. When I do the trading I refer to the comments on the site to see who gets what.
7. When you enter the Wi-Fi zone select the trade option and wait for me to select you.
8. If you can, be early. I am sometimes on early.
9. Don’t be afraid to trade amongst yourselves.

Pokemon Farming: Dragon Week

July 8, 2007 | 18 Comments

You read that right, this week is our special Dragon week here at hmtk.com. All week long we will be farming Dragon type Pokemon. Every weekday (Monday – Friday) we will be offering up a new Dragon type Pokemon for you.

Now, not all Pokemon who evolve into a Dragon type begin as a Dragon type so some of the Pokemon this week will not be a Dragon type when you get them. Once you fully evolve them, then they will become a Dragon type!

The interesting thing about Dragon type Pokemon is that though there are a lot of them in the game many of the ones you know best are not breedable. Dialga and Palkia from Diamond and Pearl are legendaries, so is Rayquaza from Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald. Obviously those Pokemon will not be available this week.

So, who will be made available? If you take a few minutes to look over your Pokedex I’m sure you will be able to figure out the answer to that question!

As always, if you miss out on a day of Pokemon farming you can always check out our forums and post a trade request there. The forums have not yet been skinned so please excuse the dust.

Pokemon Farming: Torchic

July 6, 2007 | 50 Comments

TorchicGreetings, everyone!

My handle here is BryGuy and this is my first time heading one of these Pokemon Farming sessions. I’m from Green Bay, Wisconsin and I’ve been playing the Pokemon games since the debut of Red and Blue back in 1995. I have always been fascinated by the depth and complexity that is just under the surface of these seemingly simple games. I am a competitive gamer, but I also love sharing knowledge and resources with others. It makes for more fun for everyone. With the advent of the Diamond and Pearl games, the Pokemon RPG excitement has returned. Pokemon gamers are again looking to fill their pokedexes as well as searching to find excellent pokemon to train and grow and add to their team of toughies! That’s where we farmers come in!

I have bred a fine batch of Torchics and I am looking forward to sharing them with all of you! Torchic is the fire-type starter from the Ruby and Sapphire games. There is no way to obtain a Torchic in Diamond or Pearl through normal game play other than trading. The Torchics I have bred for this occasion have different sets of learned egg-moves (these are moves that the Pokemon can not learn through leveling-up). Some Torchics have the move night slash, some have the move crush claw, and others have a trio of moves: reversal, counter, and feint. Torchic is a fire type Pokemon, but will evolve into Combusken and Blaziken, which are combination fire/fighting types. Some of these egg-moves may be handy in the Torchic’s future!

  3. Post a comment to this article saying that you would like a Torchic. Make sure you clearly and accurately list your trainer name from your game and your friend code. I will enter as many of these before the Farmer’s Market as I can.
  4. In your game, enter the WiFi Club at 7:00 pm eastern time (6:00 pm central time) on Friday, July 6, 2007.
  5. When you enter the Wi-Fi zone select the trade option and wait for me to select you.
  6. If you can, be early. I may be online early.
  7. Please be patient. This is my first time heading this trading operation. I should have plenty of Torchics. I may have to leave the WiFi Club sometimes to get more Torchics. Please don’t panic, I’ll return promptly!
  8. The Farmer’s Market will run from 7:00 to 8:00 pm EDT.
  9. I am only prepared to trade specially prepared Torchics. Please do not ask for other Pokemon. I will not be trading anything other than Torchics tonight. Thanks.

I am looking forward to trading. See you at the Farmer’s Market!

Pokemon Farming: Mudkip

July 5, 2007 | 60 Comments

Today, we bring you the Hoenn water starter, Mudkip!Mudkip

First off, let me introduce myself. I go by TheTaterTot ’round these parts, a name I was given regarding a cheap college diet I was living off some time ago. I am still in college, but I enjoy a much more diverse diet nowadays.

I, too, hail from the Midwest-from Ohio, which is a pretty cool place. Apparently, when we are not farming corn in the Midwest, we are farming Pokemon electronically! I joke, of course, I myself live in apartment in the city, I don’t even have a yard.

Enough of my rambling, let’s get to the task at hand–Mudkip farming!

For my first crop for all of you, I’m giving out Mudkips. Mudkip, beyond being my personal favorite of any of the starters, grows up to be Swampert, who is ground/water type with the highest overall base stats of any of the starters.

Now all of you can know and share my love of Mudkip with your very own in D/P!

My Information:
Trainer name: God

Friend Code:5369 6895 7194

    Instructions

  • Comment with your Name and Friend Code
  • Decide whether you want a male or female, I have a lot in my boxes to choose from
  • Get something (preferably non-sinnoh, though I will take anything)
  • Be in the Wi-Fi zone by 7:00PM EDT
  • Make yourself available to Trade (Invite–>Trade) I will come to you when I’m ready.

Here’s to a good crop!

Pokemon Farming: Treecko

July 2, 2007 | 67 Comments

TreeckoWelcome to Hoenn week! This week we will be revisiting the Hoenn starters.

First up is the Grass starter Treecko. This Pokemon is known for its great speed and being one of the few Pokemon who can learn the powerful Grass attack Energy Ball without the need of a TM.

2. The Pokemon you trade to me must be holding something.
3. I prefer berries over all other items.
4. The only exception to berries are the two items that Magby/Elekid hold when caught in the wild.
