Pokemon Farming: Charmander
June 29, 2007 | 85 Comments
Welcome to my first farming event: Charmander

First, I’d like to start with an introduction. Here, and elsewhere online, I tend to go by the name Robottnik. There’s a bit of a long story behind the name (it involves a senile gym teacher in high school who couldn’t remember anybody’s name), but in a nutshell I got the name from a very good friend who is a big fan of Sonic the Hedgehog. I’m a fan myself, but at heart I’ve always been, and always will be, a Nintendo fanboy.
I grew up with gaming, starting with the venerable Atari 2600 when I was but a wee lad, graduating to the original NES when it came out, and from there working my way up the generational ladder. I’m a huge RPG fan, which is how I got into Pokemon in the first place, but I’m also big into action and adventure games (Zelda, Metroid and such).
Like Whitdjinn, I hail from the Midwest, though I reside in Illinois, approximately 50 miles from Chicago. I don’t have a wife or anything and I am currently enrolled in school earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Game and Simulation Programming, which I am greatly looking forward to!
Enough of that. On to the main event
Today, I will be concluding the Kanto Starter trilogy by offering the Fire-type starter, Charmander. Among many people, myself included, Charmander is a staple, with powerful evolutions and a solid moveset. In my humble opinion, the only other Fire-type to come close to this powerhouse is the newest Fire-type starter, Chimchar.
I’ve participated in Steve’s farming events in the past, and I’ll be sticking with what works: after all, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! You’ll need to make sure you’re in the WiFi room by 8:00 Eastern/7:00 Central time, ready to go with a Pokemon that you’re willing to trade. I’ll take anything, but I’m still working on my Pokedex, so any non-Sinnoh Pokemon will be happily accepted. For the time being, I’m not going to worry about any held items, though in the future I may start looking for berries that I’m missing. That’s an item for a different event, however. Today I’ll be keeping it simple.
What you need to do:
- Leave a comment below with your Trainer name and code.
- Be in the WiFi Union Room by 8:00 Eastern/7:00 Central time
- Be waiting in ‘Trade Mode’ (Invite –> Trade) so I can easily select you once I’m ready
My Information:
Trainer name: Bott
Friend Code: 2320 2629 3165
I look forward to seeing everyone there!
Pokemon Farming: Squirtle
June 28, 2007 | 31 Comments
Welcome to another (and my FIRST) edition of Pokemon Farming.
Today I’m going to take some time and introduce myself to you and give some general guidelines for the trading I’ll be conducting.
First - A little about me: My online handle just about everywhere is the same as it is here - Whitdjinn - it originates from the Magic: the Gathering customizable card game (CCG) which I started playing back in high school some ten plus years ago. As far as online gaming I seem to lean towards the primitive, preferring text based RPG to the ever-popular MMORPGs, and online forum/web based communities to the ‘norm’ of myspace and the like.
I live in the Midwest - Iowa to be precise, and consider myself to be a quality representative from the region. I do have a wonderful fiancé (of 7+ years) who I affectionately call ‘The Woman’ and a beautiful daughter who just graduated…kindergarten.
I’ll leave the bio off there and get to the business at hand - Pokemon Farming.
For my first harvest, I’ll be handing out the Kanto starter, Squirtle. This poke was everyone’s first exposure to the Water variety pokemon, and most likely remains a favorite among that type even now, 10 years later.
Obviously there is no way to naturally obtain this poke through gameplay in the D/P versions of the game, which is the whole reason I’m doing this - let you play the best version of the game to date, with your favorite starter!
I’ve been involved with a few of the events Steve has held, so I understand his process. I can say that I’ll pretty much stick to what works - at least for now. You’ll need to be in the WiFi union room ready with a pokemon you don’t care about at a pre-determined time. At this time I’m not going to request any filler items, (I’m no Berry Farmer) so let’s open this up to the public. I’m going to have at least 3 parties full of Squirtle to accommodate as many as possible. Hopefully I’ll have more than that by the time we get started.
What you need to do:
- Respond with your Trainer Name and Friend Code
- Show up Tonight at 8:00 EST in the WiFi Union Room
- Be Ready (Invite -> Trade) That will put you in ‘Trade Mode’ so that I can get ahold of you when I’m ready.
My Info:
- Trainer Name: Whit
- Friend Code: 3136 3364 7333
Here’s to a successful crop!
Pokemon Farming: Bulbasaur
June 27, 2007 | 49 Comments
After a few days off I am proud to bring back Pokemon Farming. We will be farming the Leaf Green/Fire Red Grass/Poison starter Pokemon Bulbasaur today.
Bulbasaur is Pokemon #1 in the Pokedex and a staple of the Pokemon world. Some would argue he is the best Grass starter until Turtwig (Grass/Ground) entered the fold in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl.
If you do not have one now is your chance to get one.
Rules
1. I don’t care what you trade me though I would prefer a non-Sinnoh Pokemon.
2. The Pokemon you trade to me must be holding something.
3. I prefer berries over all other items.
4. The only exception to berries are the two items that Magby/Elekid hold when caught in the wild.
5. For berries I need: 37, 39, 47-49, 60 - 62, 64+.
6. When you leave your information in the comments below your trainer name must be correct. When I do the trading I refer to the comments on the site to see who gets what.
7. When you enter the Wi-Fi zone select the trade option and wait for me to select you.
8. If you can, be early. I am sometimes on early.
9. Don’t be afraid to trade amongst yourselves.

Pokemon Farming: New Farmers
June 27, 2007 | 6 Comments
Good morning to all of you.
I would like to let all of you know that I have added three new farmers to hmtk.com. These three farmers will be offering Pokemon for your training pleasure. Each of them will be setting their own rules for trading and providing their own trainer information.
Keep your eyes on the Farming category for more information.
Pokemon Farming
June 25, 2007 | 7 Comments
I’m looking for four dedicated Pokemon fans who want to help me with the Pokemon Farming.
- You must be
- Literate
- Dependable
- Punctual
- Be able to farm one day a week
If you think you are up to the challenge and want to help out your fellow Pokemon players then please contact me via email me and use “Pokemon Farming” as the subject line. Include the days of the week you would be willing to farm on (except Monday and weekends) and your timezone/location in the world.
The four of you (who make the grade) will be given Dittos and the appropriate Pokemon for breeding (if you do not already have one). Once you breed a female I suggest you trade it away for a female of the same type but with a different trainer ID, this helps to insure you breed better Pokemon faster.
Sorry I was not able to trade Pokemon today but I had some problems changing servers.
Pokemon Farming: Spiritomb
June 21, 2007 | 131 Comments
Spiritomb is one of the new Pokemon from the Diamond and Pearl games. It is of the Dark/Ghost type. It suffers with a problem of having a complex catching method. This makes Spiritomb a very useful Pokemon, if only it were easier to catch!
To catch a Spiritomb you need to use an Odd Keystone and talk to 32 people in the Sinnoh Underground. You can dig up the Odd Keystone in the Sinnoh Underground and you can also talk to your friends 32 times.
By placing the Odd Keystone in the well on Route 209 you will activate the Spiritomb event.
You then need to go to the Sinnoh Underground and talk to 32 People. These must be real people and not hikers. If you don’t know 32 people you can just hop in and out of the Sinnoh Underground and talk to the same person 32 times.
After you have talked to the 32 people just head back to the well and meet up with a Spiritomb. It will not be that strong so try not to knock it out. If you do knock it out you need to find another Odd Keystone and repeat.
Because the method of catching a Spiritomb is so hard and finding one on GTS (who is not looking for a Palkia/Dialga) is so hard I’m offering them up in this edition of Pokemon Farming!
I’m adding a few special rules to this offerring because things have gotten hectic in the past:
Rules
1. I don’t care what you trade me though I would prefer a non-Sinnoh Pokemon.
2. The Pokemon you trade to me must be holding something.
3. I prefer berries over all other items.
4. The only exception to berries are the two items that Magby/Elekid hold when caught in the wild.
5. For berries I need: 37 - 39, 41-49, 52, 60+. Yes, I know I got some of these on Monday but the plants have not produced berries yet and I did not write down their ID numbers.
6. You may also ask for one starter Pokemon as a secondary trade.
7. When you leave your information in the comments below your trainer name must be correct. When I do the trading I refer to the comments on the site to see who gets what.
8. When you enter the Wi-Fi zone select the trade option and wait for me to select you.
9. If you can, be early. I am sometimes on early.
10. Don’t be afraid to trade amongst yourselves.

Pokemon Farming: Gold, Silver and Crystal Starters
June 18, 2007 | 32 Comments

Due to popular demand I am bringing back the Gold, Silver and Crystal starter offer.
This offer includes Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile. If you want one of these three Pokemon all you need to do is ask in the comments and provide the relevant friend code information.
Now is the time when you are probably wondering, What does he want in trade? I’m not looking for much but, one thing I do need is berries. I don’t care what Pokemon you trade to me but I need the following berries for my berry farming project. I don’t have the names handy so I’ll just list them by ID number:
Berries needed
37 - 39, 41-49, 52, 60+
If you have a berry with the above ID numbers I would greatly appreciate getting it in a trade.
As an added bonus each Pokemon will be holding a berry with an ID number greater than 30.
My information:
Trainer: Ezekial
Friend Code: 0559 3242 3898
- Instructions
- Have something to trade to me
- Be in the Wi-Fi zone by 7:00PM EDT (New York Time)

PS: The 12:10PM posting time is no longer going to be used. Since this is an open trade offer I no longer feel the need to set a specific time for these posts to appear on the site.
Pokemon Farming: Berries
June 14, 2007 | 34 Comments
No, today’s farming article is not designed to get you those rare Pokemon you need. Nope, todays article is all about the art of berry farming.
Berries were first introduced in the Gold/Silver/Crystal games. You could not farm them as they grew on bushes in set areas of the world. When the Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald games came out berry farming became all the rage. Leaf Green/Fire Red did use berries but there was no way to farm them, you had to trade them over one-by-one. Yeah, most folks didn’t care for that option.
With the new Pokemon games, Diamond and Pearl, Nintendo has upped the bar on berry farming. They have added in some new berries and made berry farming better and easier.
Pokemon Farming: What do you want today?
June 11, 2007 | 115 Comments
Welcome once again to another exciting episode of Pokemon farming!
Today I’m going to mix it up a little bit. Today you will decide what Pokemon will be farmed. Feel free to add multiple Pokemon. If turn out is low than I will try to honor your request for more than one Pokemon.
That’s right, it is up to you to decide what Pokemon you want me to farm for you. Yes, you can ask for a starter. You can ask for any Pokemon that can be hatched from an egg.
All requests will need to be made in a timely manner so that I will have enough time to Pal Park over any Pokemon I do not currently have in my Pearl game.

Pokemon Farming: Mudkip
June 8, 2007 | 27 Comments
It is time once again for some Pokemon Farming goodness! Today I present to you the Pokemon known as Mudkip.
Mudkip is the Water Pokemon starter from Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald that grows into a Ground/Water type later on. This makes him very good against Electric Pokemon but not so good against Grass types.
I have to admit that Mudkip is one of my favorite Pokemon. When I restart my Ruby game to grab more copies of unique Pokemon and items I always pick Mudkip.
If you do not have a Mudkip in your diamond or Pearl game than today is your lucky day! For this evening I will be trading away Mudkips to all of you that want them. You have but to follow the simple instructions below:
- Instructions
- Have something to trade to me
- Be in the Wi-Fi zone by 7:00PM EDT (New York Time)
- Be ready
My information:
Trainer: Ezekial
Friend Code: 0559 3242 3898
As an added bonus each Mudkip will be holding a berry with a number higher than 30!
