EXP Lock Blocks Daycare EXP

See title. Since level plays a role in breeding chances, you should be able to have better control over your Pokemon gaining EXP from the daycare. Normally this wouldn't be a problem since, if you care about such things, you'll ideally want to level your two Pokemon outside of the daycare first to the desired level, and once they're in the daycare, they'll gain EXP at the same rate. However, in the case of Ditto, which you might want to use in multiple breeding pairs, it's inevitable that the Ditto will gain too much EXP over time, to the point where leveling up its partner to match will get more and more tedious. It's for this reason that I have two Ditto, one at level 100 and the other locked at a lower level - but that level has only gone up since I got it, despite my desire to keep it low. And of course there are people who like locking special Pokemon at level 1 with 0 exp, and if the owner wants to keep it that way, those Pokemon can never enter the daycare ever. This would be fine if EXP lock stops Pokemon from getting daycare EXP, but it does not - and it doesn't make any sense. EXP lock's entire purpose is to keep Pokemon from getting EXP, why shouldn't it block daycare EXP as well? If you want to gain daycare EXP, it stands to reason that you would want to keep it unlocked. Now, I can think of one specific instance in which you might want to EXP lock your Pokemon but allow it to gain daycare EXP - if for some reason you want to keep your Pokemon publicly visible somewhere, but prevent people from giving them EXP via clicks, so as not to desync their levels. But if such a thing happens, unless you're really not paying attention (which, if you care enough to be in this specific scenario, you probably are) you can easily put one in your party for a little while to catch it up. If you're really against changing EXP lock to serve this purpose, I propose an alternative: a simple checkbox on the daycare page that toggles EXP gain on and off. I can't think of any reason not to have this at least.

Ooooooh, I can definitely get behind this. It's a feature I never even considered, but it definitely seems like a useful little streamlining for the Daycare. Even if it were just that alternative to the little check box at the daycare page to turn EXP gaining on and off, I think that'd definitely smooth out the wrinkles a tad. :) I definitely give my support!

If it's something you can turn on and off, I don't see why not. As it is, doom seeds are very cheap both in the market and the prize shop if your Ditto gets too high a level. I definitely would prefer our current system over one that you can't toggle, and so without the option to turn it on and off I don't support it. I prefer being able to lock the EXP gained from others clicking while still being able to level up the pairs I use.

But...the daycare isn't the nursery. It's not only a place for eggs like the nursey is. It's a place to GROW your pokemon, in the daycare it even says Laurel will raise your pokemon for you, not breed them for you. I'd much rather, if this is such a problem for people, see a change to the nursery rather than turning off a feature that is a core part of the daycare itself in the games. What the OP of this post, and the OPs of every time this was suggested and reject, wants is the pokemon nursery not the pokemon daycare

I don't think it can be argued against that the vast majority of people, whether in the official games or on Pokefarm, use the daycare exclusively for breeding Pokemon. Or at least primarily. I can see how changing the way EXP lock works might mess with some people, but adding a checkbox that toggles off EXP gain wouldn't affect anybody who wouldn't use it.
selocon, you seem like you might have misunderstood the suggestion. i don't understand how wanting EXP locked pokemon to stay at their EXP level is literally at all going to affect people who do use the daycare for EXP gain. this is for EXP locked pokemon specifically, no other pokemon. pokemon who aren't EXP locked would still gain experience normally. this wouldn't fundamentally change the daycare, or anything. the tidbit of "if you're against changing EXP lock for this reason, we could have a checkbox to toggle exp gain on and off in the daycare" is a compromise, not the point of the entire suggestion.

I support! I always thought the exp lock pokémon doesn't gain exp in daycare until I've put a level one exp lock pokémon in the daycare the time to generate one egg and then find out it gain exp. I was a bit frustrated by it since I've exp locked it for a reason. Another compromise maybe is to make it so having no DayCare EXP Booster misc_upgrade1.png at all doesn't provide you exp? So if you don't want your pokémon to gain exp in the daycare you can make your pokémon hold any Exp booster you have so the daycare stop giving you experience.

I support this! I definitely thought that EXP lock did prevent daycare xp at first. It seems like it would, I mean, it says EXP lock, there's no explanation anywhere that it wouldn't work in the daycare. So i think it would be more consistent to include it preventing daycare xp. Like, i don't see any reason someone would want an xp locked pokemon to gain xp right? It was locked for a reason. Plus pairs being similar in xp can help quite a bit when you're hunting a large amount, but currently you would have to leave just one of them in to equal the levels out which feels extremely awkward, so I would really like this implemented!

Full support, I have multiple dittos for breeding (level matching) with varying levels and locking doesn’t do anything to keep them that way :( And I also use the daycare for some background leveling for Pokémon when I’m too lazy to click people for click backs. So I’d definitely like the ability to turn it on and off.
Remember to hydrate and take breaks from the screen. Have meds to take, homework? Device to charge or a pet to feed? Probably do that too.
